Yeah, Earnest Collins played for UNC. He was a walk on in the early '90's and ended up all-conference in the best d2 conference (The NCC). He also had two previous stints as an assistant coach under Joe Glenn and Kay Dalton. A lot of old alums are pretty happy he is back. As far as Jace is concerned, I'm not sure what happened. I do know Downing made sure the kids went to class and stayed out of trouble, so I don't know what his deal is. He has a red-shirt to give. We are very deep at receiver position, so while we will miss him, we do have guys that can step up.SuperHornet wrote:He played for UNC? That alone will be great for butts in the seats for the first year or two. And if he can recruit to deliver wins, so much the better. That said, I hope fans (in general; I think you're too smart to jump to conclusions like this) don't try to hold the new guy responsible for things like the ineligible player, the seeds of which were clearly planted before the coach arrived.BigSkyBears wrote:
Not much to say. Our best offensive player is ineligible and lots of question marks on defense. The good news is we have a new coach that has always over achieved, ever since he played in college at UNC.

Re: Coaches Polls
As over on the CAA thread:
1- W&M
2- JMU
3- UD
4- UNH
5- UMass
6- UR
7- VU
8- URI
9- Maine
10- ODU
11- TU
Pre season conference polls aren't as worthless as national polls as you're dealing with a far smaller # of teams, the teams play each other every year, and the coaches picking them do have familiarity with all the teams (Unlike the national pre season polls when there a 120+ teams, a lot of the people voting are clueless about the teams outside of their respective conference, and they all don't play each other every year). That being said, even the pre season conference polls are SEMI worthless, because they never pan out like predicted.

Re: Coaches Polls
SOCON coaches poll looks pretty good. I don't get how the Mocs are getting a first place vote, and I don't get how BJ Coleman is considered a top 10 QB draft pick in 2012. Can someone explain?
