I started making a list, but realized it's an exercise in futility. If we're talking about a conference that would compete in FCS, I'd just keep the whole CAA and add Albany, Stony and maybe Liberty. That would help keep UNH and Maine happy and add one more Virginia team to keep the balance in the south. I've never understood the folks that like to make super conferences in I-AA since we have playoffs. Why would you want UD, JMU, AppSt, GSU, Furman... in the same conference? I'd rather see them matched up in the playoffs.
Not sure if you noticed but thats sort of what I did....pretty much took the whole CAA and took a few teams from the SOCON.

The advantage of an FCS super-conference, and the major advantage that the CAA shares over the other East Coast FCS conferences is the ability to recruit.

That's at least why teams that want to rise (e.g., Albany and SBU) should be doing everything possible to hitch their wagons to the more established teams in the CAA.

With playoffs, I don't like it. You'd be eliminating teams that are probably better than half the field before they even start.

I disagree. I don't think any recruits are impressed by regular season games. I think it's that the CAA gets more teams in the playoffs and therefore have a better chance of getting an ESPN game in December. You have to have a good enough conference to warrent the multiple bids, but if you replaced some of the lower teams in the CAA with AppSt, GSU, Furman, etc... I don't think you are going to get more bids, you're just going to have more good teams with more losses.

Methinks Navy, Memphis, Marshall, and ECU would vomit at the thought of that.

Wouldn't it make more sense to trade Memphis and WKU for ODU and ECU?

Blech. WAY to FCS centric. Where's Nevada? San Diego State? Fresno State? I like the Mountain Division, but the Pacific Division needs serious work. Get rid of PSU, NAU and SUU and add in the above three teams and you might be onto something.

Well who do you want me to kick out of my conference for them? ODU is questionable academically and nobody really takes Stony Brook that seriously. Them?

There's a nice, clean, geographically concise 10 team league. 5 FCS. 5 FBS. :thumb:
