Don't know how any MVFC teams can compete with shock and awe of the Southern Confernece and CAA.

NDSU would have a better chance against the Cobbers now that a certain player is gone.

No slam on the Cobbers, I lke them a lot, I can see them from Fargo.

UNI fans have been told that they are no better than Furman, who finished 6-5.

The MVFC is nothing more than the MEAC really.

Until the MVFC shows itself in the postseason they'll never get the respect they yearn for.

NDSU in a tight one over JMU.

Wofford adds to UNI's postseason miserable record.

So a MVFC team taking the National Champion to OT, on the road, in the playoffs is nothing. :coffee:

Sure. A playoff loss is a playoff loss, because any kind of loss ends your season. Win or go home, no trophies for a close game.

The Big Sky is the only conference that should get respect then, all others lost and went home.

FargoBison wrote:I still think the bye week is huge for both teams. NDSU is 7-1 coming off a bye in the Bohl Era and we had a number of nagging injuries. We'll get our nose guard back after he had an MCL sprain and he really helps in slowing down a team's interior rush against us. We really struggled vs WIU and YSU with him out.

UNI obviously gets the extra prep, I also think UNI's defense is better this year and their offense is more efficient. They are a different beast than last year.
You mentioned getting the NG back, but weren't there also some concerning injuries on the OL? Any status on those?

As for the thread title, I picked one as I have UNI losing to Wofford and NDSU beating JMU, although I do agree with FargoBison that the extra week should help a lot to prepare for the Wofford rushing attack. Also, I guess I don't know too much about Wofford's defense and how they will do shutting down UNI. Should be some good matchups.....

Conferences make their marks by earning W's in the postseason.

When UNI folds at home year after year, much less to a PL team, you lose credibility nationally.

The MVFC gets home games against the CAA & SoCon this week - put up or shut up time.

I have pleasant memories of a trip to the MVC as an underdog to play a favorite in '09...

The MVFC was 3-3 last year in the playoffs with 3 teams. Some conferences get 2 teams and no wins.

Agreed. However, four different CAA teams winning the chipper since 2003... that's another story. 8-)

What a fucking joke. UNI, nor the conference, have to prove anything to anybody. UNI is one of the winningest programs in the history of the divison. And programs like UNI, NDSU, YSU, and SIU are among the best programs in the nation. App St, and the CAA have had a nice run in recent years. Soon, the MVFC will be back in title games as well. All these things are cyclical, it always has been and always will be.

UNI lost to Lehigh last year, WGAF? That UNI team had no business being in the playoffs in the first place, but somehow they scratched their way to a conference title and the auto-bid. They were really banged up going into that game and they got eliminated by a very good Lehigh team.

As for the thread, I say both teams win at home this weekend. :thumb:

Man, saying the MVFC's conference champ didn't deserve to be in the playoffs? I don't think a CAA or SoCon or Big Sky follower would go that far, but hey, if the shoe fits.

UNI was in the decline going into the playoffs last year, it was a shock that they lost but I don't think anyone had any great expectations of them doing much after that game. The MVFC was down last year, way down.

I wouldnt say they were way down but there was very little parity from the top to bottom last season. This year there was more separation and at the top portion of the conference the MVFC looked pretty good ooc (Ill St being the exception as it took them a while to catch fire). Beating up on each other is what killed some of them as it was proven that each team was pretty darn close to being as good as any other (another exception being WIU; they were garbage). Ill St and YSU were tough enough to show that they probably would've been a tough matchup for most teams in the playoffs

Last year was fucking terrible in the MVFC.

No amount of parity can explain why one of the worst UNI teams the last decade clinches the MVFC title with games to be played yet.

Interesting. My thought is that if one wins, it's most likely NDSU. I don't think UNI stands a chance against Wofford....if they couldn't handle Lehigh last year, I see NO reason for them to handle the oddities of a triple option THIS year.

God, what a dope. Whole different year..............
