We went 6-5, and also had that many starters coming back. What you cannot account for, is 14 of them going down due to injury, including all but 1 on the OL, top WR, top LB, and top safety. I really do hope all those players for NDSU go down though so you can have a chance to prove me wrong. :thumb:
Bison also had a ton of injuries this year but the back-ups stepped up and played very well. Injuries are part of the game. Look at our starting roster this last year. There is a reason why there were so many sophs and freshman playing this year. Injuries were some of them and they were...good. The Bison also had OL-RB-WR-DL-LB-DB go down this year and miss many games.

EWU was a one-trick pony....NDSU is not even close to that.

Give me a break. UNDS didn't come close to the injuries that EWU sustained last year. Missed many games... 7 of our 14 starters didn't just miss a couple games, they were done for the year. Lose 4/5 of your line and have a 3rd string TE start at center and see how well the prairie cows do. Jensen would throw pick after pick while under pressure constantly.

Yes, 4/5 OL starters is a big hit but were all the backups true freshman? There should have been decent depth to back them up, IMO. Bison were down to 1 starting WR at the end of the season.

So is EWU going to make a run at the BSC title or repeat another 6-5 season?

A couple were I believe, and all were underclassmen. And despite all the injuries, we were still two or three plays from 8-3 or better with a win over UW. As for this upcoming season, it all depends on the QB. If we get competent play from whoever steps into the starting spot, then there's no doubt we'll be competing for the BSC title, playoffs and more. If we land Kyle Padron from SMU, we'll be a NC contender. He's better than BLM.

I thought NDSU was starting the year off by playing a certain team, from a certain Midwestern town, that begins Chi and ends with Cago.

CONWAY - Coastal Carolina All-American tight end David Duran, who graduated from the University this past December, has been granted an extension of eligibility waiver by the Big South Conference and NCAA.

A first team preseason All-American heading into the 2011 season, Duran played sparingly for the Chanticleers as a fifth-year senior this past fall before ultimately having season-ending surgery on his shoulder. In four games this past season, he caught five passes for 75 yards. He needs just two more receptions to become the first tight end in Big South history to have 60 career catches. (Gardner-Webb's Josh Miller owns the Big South record for career catches by a tight end with 59.)

For his three-year Coastal Carolina career, Duran has 58 receptions in 27 games for 820 yards and three touchdowns. He ranks sixth in the CCU career receiving yards list and seventh in career receptions.

The Marietta, Ga., native was named second team All-American by Phil Steele in 2010 and earned his second consecutive first team All-Big South selection. For the second straight year, he led all Big South tight ends in both receptions and receiving yards, while ranking fifth (tied) in the nation among tight ends in receptions. His 34 receptions in 2010 is fourth on the CCU single-season list, while his 472 receiving yards ranks eighth on the school's single-season list.

Duran began his career at Michigan State, redshirting his true freshman season due to injury. As a redshirt freshman, Duran saw action in four games, including each of the final three, catching a pass versus Penn State in the Spartans' 2008 season finale.

Duran, who earned Dean's List recognition this past semester, received his degree in Recreation and Sport Management.

One day, you will meet me at a football game. We will enjoy a few good beers and when i turn down your sexual advances, you will realize how incredible I am.

This day will come. It has already come for so many. This too will pass.

The funniest moment last season, at least for me, was when I called for a win by the USD Coyotes over EWU. Those EWU fans were sure indignant about that. Now they sound like UND fans bragging about thier 6-5 record.

USD had a good football team, a real challenge for a team like the EWU Eagles. They couldnt handle it.

Next season when NDSU goes up against the Rams Im thinking it should be a great game. Well matched teams, the advantage is of course to CSU because of the scholarships and naturally you have to consider coaching salaries.

What is important about OOC matchups is scheduling where you think you can compete. The best football games usually happen between equally matched teams. Any team in the FCS is an equal team for The NDSU BISON, most are inferior. The real challenges for The BISON are in the FBS games. This one is a good matchup.

It remains problematic for you to watch The NDSU BISON as they enjoy what montana once had. Now montana is a program that has gone as far as it can. Its passed on growth in favor of the big fish/small pond, and even at that the bad bison only have a runner-up status. A team that cant stop an option attack is failing at fundamental football. You guys got pretty good for a grandstand team, but thats in the past.

The Fundamentals are going to be important against the Rams. In no particular order some important fundamentals are: Blocking, Running, passing, throwing and catching. No team excels at all of them all the time. The key is to be better than your opponent.

Here is the Rams practice schedule for this spring under first-year head coach Jim McElwain

Wed., March 21: Practice #1, on-campus practice facility
Fri., March 23: Practice #2, on-campus practice facility
Mon., March 26: Practice #3, on-campus practice facility
Wed., March 28: Practice #4, on-campus practice facility
Fri., March 30: Practice #5, on-campus practice facility
Mon., April 2: Practice #6, on-campus practice facility
Wed., April 4: Practice #7, on-campus practice facility
Fri., April 6: Practice #8, (SCRIMMAGE) Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium
Mon., April 9: Practice #9, on-campus practice facility
Wed., April 11: Practice #10, on-campus practice facility
Fri., April 13: Practice #11, Infinity Park, Glendale (Denver Metro Area)
Sun., April 15: Practice #12 (SCRIMMAGE), Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium
Tue., April 17: Practice #13, on-campus practice facility
Thu., April 18: Practice #14, on-campus practice facility
Sat., April 21: Spring game, Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium

Conditioning, depth and diet as well as good character and spiritual balance are key to preventing injuries. A team that sustained "the injuries that EWU sustained last year" is lacking in those qualities. The way some of their fans present themselves here at least one flaw becomes obvious.

Thats what I am talking about when I mention fundamentals. Thats where it all starts. Programs that are up and down with one good year mixed in with some 6-5s or worse are failing on the fundamentals. Add in the injury situation and you have a program that needs to be rebuilt from the ground up. Thats the cyclical nature of football. :thumb:

Right now The BISON are preparing for CSU. The game plan is key.

Al Simmons at a glance:

For all or parts of six seasons, has coached at the NFL level, including two years (2003-04) as a full-time assistant coach with the San Francisco 49ers. Also has assisted NFL staffs during training camp on four occasions, with the Los Angeles Raiders (1993), Arizona Cardinals (1996), San Diego Chargers (1999) and Dallas Cowboys (2000).

Coached three future Denver Broncos draft selections, Deltha O’Neal, Nick Harris and Syd’Quan Thompson, all at Cal. O’Neal was the first overall cornerback selected in the 2000 NFL Draft.

Enters his 27th season in coaching, with all 26 years of prior experience tutoring defensive backs in some capacity.

First met Sonny Lubick during a spring visit to Fort Collins in 1996, as a Montana State assistant. Wound up coaching Lubick’s son, Marc, with the Bobcats, and later coached with his other son, Matt Lubick, splitting the defensive-backs duties at Arizona State in 2007.

Owns 10 years of experience coaching in the former Pac-10. Also has eight overall years as a defensive coordinator in his career.

Has spent 18 years of his career coaching in the Bay Area, near his hometown, Oakland. In fact, the Mountain and Pacific time zones have encompassed all of his college resume.

I moved this up from page 1 past all the simple minded posts of the haters. This post contains valuable information for NDSU Fans planning on attending the big game at Colorado State University. Its a great game in the heart of the Big Sky. An area NDSU likes to recruit when they spot a player they think can contribute. Nothing like bringing the Mighty NDSU BISON to the good people of the west.
JBB wrote:http://maps.google.com/maps?client=safa ... d=0CBkQ_BI

that map (if you are able to tune it in) shows you the motels around the stadium. Nothing is really close, 3 miles or so. Thats a nice walkable distance especially if its an afternoon game, which I prefer.

The Bed and breakfast houses are starting at $125/night. There is a $99 dollar room at one of them but the bathroom is down a floor by the back stairway. Good motels $135 range. Down from there to $89, so all the montana fans will probably have to sleep in their charter bus.

Above are more connections shilling todays rate. You may find when you follow the links prices will be higher for game dates.

I would encourage you to book now if you are planning to go. There arent that many hotels in the area and one of the B&B Prime Suites is already booked. :coffee:

Before you come on here beating uour chest - didn't NDSU go 3-8 in 2009, and something like 5-6 or 6-5 the year before? I suppose we should ignore those facts, though, since NDSU won a championship this year. I think you will find it's much harder to stay on top at this level than it is to get there.

As for EWU, yeah, at some point injuries become an issue when you are losing multiple All-America / All-Conference type players for the season and basically your entire offensive line. Yet they still rallied to win 6 of their last 7 games and nearly made the playoffs despite opening the season 0-4, and we also had another national POY award. So while dissapointing, there was something to build upon for next season. So don't worry, that kind of bad luck won't happen again.

PS - We'd probably have had a great record this season, too, had we played the pathetic OOC schedule NDSU did. Why are the Bizzzzzon scared to schedule outside the Patriot/NEC for their OOC games? Couldn't be anything to do with the level of competition, could it?

 I believe we have discussed the NDSU Scheduling model.

The next Big FBS game is Colorado State.

Last seasons FCS results are in and were very conclusive.

This season The NDSU National Football Champion BISON open with another "National Spotlight" FCS GAME when National FCS Playoff Contender Robert Morris invades the nations beloved, insanely popular and presitgious Fabulous Fargo Dome! :thumb:

The Bison also had OL-RB-WR-DL-LB-DB go down this year and miss many games.

EWU was a one-trick pony....NDSU is not even close to that.

It really doesnt matter what happens to NDSU, EWU is still a one-trick pony by virtue of their won and done.

The Big Win over NDSU last season was probably the pinnacle for them wouldnt you say?

On-the-other-hand, The NDSU BISON not only won the National FCS Football Championship this year, they provided the nation with some of the biggest playoff games in history both last season and this season. What excitement for a school like EWU to get a team like The NDSU BISON to come to their place! Wow!! :thumb:

Now The BISON are headed into the heart of Big Sky Country to play a team from the Mountain West. This should be an exciting day of football for all BSC fans as they will get a rare opportunity to see The Champion NDSU BISON in action. Great chance for recruits out that way to see what a top notch program looks like too! :thumb:

Dear Lord, We come before you and humbly ask you to grant our prayer for a veil of protection to be placed over Donald Trump. May your will be done. In Jesus name we pray. Amen

As much as I don't like the Bison, I hate CSU 10x more. If UNC has an open date, I'll try to make that game and cheer for the Bison. I live 13 minutes from Lubick field, easy drive.
