Since '78??? Thirty years ago? How about we make it a little more relevant... say the last ten years...
Big Sky titles... 1
CAA titles... 3

Wouldn't it be 8? Or is 7 as high as you can count?lizrdgizrd wrote:SoCon national championships: 7WTAG wrote:BTW, since 1978: CAA national championships: 3. Big Sky national championships: 3
It'll be 8 after this season.WTAG wrote:Wouldn't it be 8? Or is 7 as high as you can count?lizrdgizrd wrote: SoCon national championships: 7
Maybe I'm just completely missing the message. But, the Big Sky has 5 nc's and 5 runner-ups in the nc. How is it there are only 5 playoff wins excluding Montana's?ChickenMan wrote:AZGrizFan wrote: My dad used to have a saying, and it went something like this:
Don't hold your hand on your A** waiting for THAT to happen....it just might grow there. You might want to actually MAKE the playoffs first, then worry about who/when/where you're meeting.....
UD has made the playoffs 13 times.. Montana 17... now considering that UD plays in a conference that is much stronger than the Big Sky.. four less playoff appearences is not surprising. If you want some proof as to the relative strengths of the two leagues.. take a look at this cold hard fact...
Playoff wins by CAA schools... excluding UD... 27
Playoff wins by Big Sky schools... excluding... Montana... 5.....
I rest my case............
I'm pretty sure he's not counting any playoff wins by Boise State, Nevada, or Idaho.Grizball wrote:Maybe I'm just completely missing the message. But, the Big Sky has 5 nc's and 5 runner-ups in the nc. How is it there are only 5 playoff wins excluding Montana's?ChickenMan wrote:

Six for GSU, 2 for ASU. Perhaps you're using Karl Rove math?lizrdgizrd wrote:It'll be 8 after this season.WTAG wrote: Wouldn't it be 8? Or is 7 as high as you can count?

As if that were bad.
Right on, ChickenMan!ChickenMan wrote:WTAG wrote: Six for GSU, 2 for ASU. Perhaps you're using Karl Rove math?
The correct number would be two for GSU.. they won their other four as an Independent.. prior to joining the SoCon in 1992...

Ok, I'll break it down for you:WTAG wrote:lizrdgizrd wrote: Right on, ChickenMan!
That wasn't the tune you were singing a few posts ago.
I'm counting the times that a team that was a member of the Southern Conference won a National Championship. Marshall was SoCon back then plain and simple. You want to keep redoing the math, have at it. We've still got you beat.WTAG wrote:So now you're counting the ones for a team that isn't there anymore?
Well in that case we have 5, still more than the "be all end all" CAA.lizrdgizrd wrote:I'm counting the times that a team that was a member of the Southern Conference won a National Championship. 'Course, counted the other way we've got 9.WTAG wrote:Well in that case we have 5, still more than the "be all end all" CAA.lizrdgizrd wrote: I'm counting the times that a team that was a member of the Southern Conference won a National Championship.
