First off , no that is not what you said. You said he was "reportedly voted expelled". It wasn't reportedly , HE WAS EXPELLED. he appealed the expulsion and was allowed to still be on the team as the appeal was going on.
I said "reportedly" because the original article from a month or so ago didn't mention him by name (we just all assumed it was Johnson because it was obvious). link
SACCAT wrote: He was then charged with rape, and will now NOT be on the team ( your president said it tonight " Jordan Johnson is no longer on the team).
Uh, here's the actual quote (from here):
University of Montana President Royce Engstrom said in an interview with NBC Montana that Johnson had been removed from the team.

"Given the charges that have been filed against Mr. Johnson, our student athlete conduct code calls for immediate suspension from team activities, and we will put that into affect right away," said Engstrom. "We will just have to let due process play out."

While he's been suspended indefinitely from the football team, Johnson's still enrolled as a UM student at this time.
So he is still technically a member of the team right now.

SACCAT wrote:I am not happy with what is going on at MSU or UM right now, but don't act like you should keep him on the team until this plays out...what are you PENN STATE?
Um, yeah, you're a **** idiot.

Comparing this situation to Penn State (where a school is known to have actively covered up serial child molestation) is ridiculous & you know it's ridiculous, so it seems clear to me you aren't really interested in a serious discussion. You obviously aren't as well-versed on the facts of this as you think you are, either, so maybe you should educate yourself before barging through the door like an ignorant, sanctimonious *******.
Calm down, this is a message board. I do know about the case, but am not going to go on a 5 page rant about all the things that should have been done by the people involved. There is a reason that the DOJ, DOE, NCAA are in missoula, and it isn't to go to the MO club. I THINK (opinion) that there was a cover-up at some level. I don't know if it was as the university level, or at the city level, but something isn't right. THE FACT IS two UM football players have now been charged with rape in the last 6 months. Spin the wheel all you want, but that is what is going on. Justice will be done in a court of law, just like it should. Was the PENN State joke a cheap shot? fuck yeah it was, and I didn't do it to be
sanctimonious (I prefer Folgers). But forever now there have been alot (not all) of griz fans that have said that this whole thing is a sham and that JJ was getting screwed. The prosecution isn't going to bring charges unless the are damn sure they can win. Don't you watch Law and Order?

It is what it is. I will not judge guilt or innocence....not for me to judge.

We will play this fall with the players that we have and we will be fine. The coaches will make adjustments for the QB that lines up under center, whoever it is. Remember, JJ was not experienced last fall and we had four very difficult games in which we didn't think the offense would ever click. And then he did and so did the O. I suspect the first games will look the same. We have a good staff and a stable of running backs. The season will evolve as it moves along so that this team will be peaking at the right time. We will take each game one at a time, play hard, adapt and hope for the best.

Trent McKinney is going to be a great QB in the future. Not sure about this season but then JJ surprised me in the latter part of last season.

I wish JJ and the young lady good luck. Now it's time to move on and support this year's team.

Why didn't he just go out to the nearest sheep ranch like the rest of the team?

It's a simple process for making jokes...

Step 1: Be funny.

You have failed.

Oh loosen up a little, negative Nancy. :ohno:

Bottom line: JJ follows my advice and the Griz aren't in yet another felonious situation.

WTF is it up there, anyway? That little to do?

Griz fans, why even waste your time on this topic? They have already made up their minds on who is guilty and who is innocent, how it should play out, and you will never change their minds.

I'm not sure anything you said in the above post really addresses what I said. You accused me of being biased (or something) because I said he was still on the team, which—of course—he technically is. I really don't know what your point is, or what the point of your Penn State cheap shot was. Were you just assuming that, because I'm a Griz fan, I was desperately trying to find some positive spin on things? The "positive spin for the Griz" job has already been taken (by SuperHornet ;) ).

And I do watch Law & Order. If you watched Law & Order, you would know that the DAs lose their cases a fair amount of the time… mainly because Jack McCoy likes to ruin things by getting himself into a histrionic tizzy, but I digress…

Based on what's been in the media, this case really looks like it could go either way. There's apparently some physical evidence, but the girl's story seems ripe with inconsistency. It's also strange as to how long it took to actually file the charges (my theory there is that the prosecutors though JJ was going to leave town, forcing them to make a decision now).

I'm not going to throw stones at the Griz on this one. This kind of thing is happening to a greater or lesser extent on campuses across the country. Many good to great football players grow up being spoiled, protected and indulged by their team's fans, coaches, parents, hometown police, campus security, etc. Women can throw themselves at the players like groupies do with rock stars and some of the players develop a sense of entitlement. They're not used to a woman telling them no and when one does some of them don't handle it very well. This is not an indictment of all football players, they're just like the rest of society in that there can be a bad apple or two in every group of people whether a football team or a chess club.

I don't know the facts of what happened in JJ's case and I'm not sure we'll ever know the truth but what happened in Missoula has happened elsewhere and could happen on your campus next. I do hope that they get to the bottom of everything and clean up any institutional issues that may exist.

Probably sounds a little crazy but it'd be nice if we could let a jury decide if anybody was raped.

The trial for this one could be ugly. A FB player from a Div III school near here was recently acquitted in his rape trial. The details of that case sound eerily similar to what is in the affidavit on this one.

And it'll be even more embarassing than usual with a QB at the helm who's thrown 3 game-situation passes in his career.
