If only we'd played a tough team like Panhandle State instead of U of A.
And let's see how you do against the Kitties first. Your five wins are against teams with a combined 5 DI full schollie wins. The only team with a winning record you have faced, you got rolled.
BTW - I have been saving all these responses for years - they are all basically Montana poster quotes
Outside of catching us on an off night, your oh so impressive resume is as follows:
An 11 point win against UC Davis, a team the Griz just obliterated.
A six point win at home over USD.
And a one point squeaker over a mediocre Sac team that choked harder than Travis on a...never mind.
Yeah, we haven't played the most impressive schedule, but dominated every team we've beat in all phases of the game. The same can definitely NOT be said of NAU.
Except we dominated Montana in every phase of the game...

Right, but you haven't done that against the teams you should, which seems to indicate that the Montana game was yet again NAU's Superbowl...

Other than a really good EIU, how can the OVC be rated above the BSC? TSU has a nice record but where are the quality wins?
I'm using the current listing and that ill be updated (39 systems right now) but the basic picture shouldn't change. It's an average. Eastern Illinois being way up near the top drags the OVC average up. The Big Sky not having nay in the top 15 kind of tamps that effect down for that conference. Also the Big Sky has a lot of teams down low. 23 percent of its teams (3) are in the bottom third of the rankings while only one OVC team (11 percent) is. The Big Sky has more teams (4) and a higher percentage of its teams (31 percent) in the top 25 than the OVC does (2, 22 percent). But not having anybody way near the top like the OVC does and having a high proportion of teams down near the bottom are factors that drag the average down as compared to the OVC.

Why then is EWU so low? Too much weighting in 2 losses? If so why isn't Montana higher? It also seems like SOS isn't given much weight.

I don't know but you're talking about a large number of systems. I also look at Sagarin and Massey as good systems that I've studied some (I mean studied how well they do in predicting, etc.). Sagarin has Eastern Washington at 7 and Massey has them at 10.
Unfortunately Sagarin doesn't display his conference strength ratings anymore. Or if he does I haven't found them.

Welcome to the club - NAU kicked the shit out of Montana, yet are ranked below them.
By your logic, if some 0-6 team beats NDSU, NDSU should be ranked behind them???

No - but since NAU has lost to a Decent FBS team, and a good MSU team, and won 4 games against DI teams, yes, they should be ahead of Montana, since they just didn't beat Montana, they kicked the shit out of them.
