Afraid? no reason to be afraid when EWU is the best team in the land in 2013. I just happen to think NDSU is suspect. Everyone just accepts the. As number 1 bc they're undefeated. Is this the BCS? If anyone team has beat teams to prove how good they are it's EWU or SLU. I think ndsu is good obviously but they aren't takin that trophy home this year. Bank it.

It's not because they are undefeated, it has more to do with 24 Seniors back, 18 of them starters that are 10-1 in the playoffs. We did lose a big piece on the way with Grant Olson, 28 tackles against Wofford last year, but still a lot of experience. But who knows, anything can happen in the playoffs.

But anyway, Gil, I'm not saying ndsu isn't good. They're 11-0. But have they played any top 5 teams this year? Or any ranked FBS teams?

UNI was top 5 and healthy when NDSU, just like SHSU was healthy when they played EWU. K-State was just out of the Top 25, sitting at 26 just outside the top 25, behind Oregon St, when NDSU beat them. K-State finished 7-5. NDSU also defeated 5 DI teams with winning overall records, greater than .500 Winning percentage.

Being the Griz only beat 1 Division 1 team with a winning record, you have to almost put App St as the second best win.

What happens in September, October, etc., sets the stage for what happens in November and December. If it weren't for that, RK would declare the playoff teams before the season even starts, and perhaps even the champion. Why bother with the season under those conditions?

Maybe you don't understand what BlackFalkinese, but he asked if the Bison played a top 5 team and UNI was top 5 at the time. Keep fishin.

The reason is all the dick measuring going on between the MVFC and the Big Sky. Most are pissed that the MVFC only got two in. And they tend to see us as a not quite as good version of themselves. Plus they hate EWU. Gunna be fun to see if that game turns out like the YSU game or the SELA game. SDSU hasnt allowed much for a running game outside of the first half of the NAU game fo a while. I think that SDSU surprises the sky fans on here w just how good their D is playing now. And how Sumner plays in big games when hes needed to come up big outside of NDSU games.

I don't think anyone will be surprised by your defense. We all watched the NAU game. That said, EWU's offense is a lot better than NAU's. It's not unreasonable for us to believe that we will win the game, at home, because we know our team. Same as it's not unreasonable for you guys to believe you will win.

What IS unreasonable is the fact that folks believe that SDSU is going to win this game hands-down simply because they play in the MVFC, a presumably better conference (this year). Playoff history between the two conferences shows that's a flawed argument, yet every MVFC fans wants to make it for some reason.

Holy shit...that might be the understatement of the century. NAU's offense was HORRID this year, and they won 3-4 games SPECIFICALLY because of their defense and special teams scoring points that ended up being the difference in the game. When their defense doesn't score, they don't do well.

But defense is a totally different story too. Even after SDSU ran wild on NAU they still have the best defense in the Big Sky via yards per game given up at 348. EWU is 11th of 13 teams in the Big Sky in yards per game given up at 454. So yes EWU will make more plays on offense than NAU that is a given but SDSU will move the ball much better than what they did vs NAU too. It's a great matchup good "D" vs great "O" and crap "D" vs average "O"

NAU had 4 turnovers....that'll kill just about any semblance of momentum a team might have. Now granted, SDSU obviously had a hand in forcing those turnovers, so in a sense NAU got a taste of their own medicine...But I think EWU has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that they thrive on the concept of being basically "unstoppable", and the are perfectly fine just outscoring you. Keep in mind, MSU didn't stop EWU one time. Not ONCE. 8 possessions. 8 TD's. The same MSU team that throttled NAU 36-7 earlier in the year. If SDSU gets the same # of yards rushing and passing against EWU as they did against NAU my prediction is EWU wins by 17.   SDSU will have to significantly ramp up it's offensive game if they hope to hang with EWU points-wise.
