When you judge O-line and D-line, do you rank one team's O-line performance AGAINST the other team's D-line and vice-versa? Or do you make the assessment in a vaccuum?

It's in a vacuum—whichever one I think is better overall (only comparing O-Line to O-Line, QBs to QBs, etc.). I didn't factor the weather into the position matchups, either—I just did that for the final score.

This game has been talked about ad naseum. Truly, the weather has garnered more attention than the teams playing, IMO. Coastal is preparing for Montana, and vice versa. Will it be loud and cold? Yes. 6 degrees is cold, regardless of where you live. I used to work with a former Soviet guard, and he hated Russia because it was always so cold. Montana players are humans and they will get cold but that's there environment, they will naturally handle it better. Coastal is out there right now practicing (go watch and take photos). They'll be out tomorrow so please, go get a look see. I wish I could be out there. Someone, please keep me informed of the game. Grizza has my number. I think Vidav does as well.

I just watched the video: Coach is right, this is truly a science assessment: Coastal is NOT USED to this environment however they are aware of it.

I ask for a breakdown of the game and you give me more shit talk about the cold and weather.

That is it. That is the joke. RELAX Holy shit. That Randy guy really needs a hug. :hide:
I've met Randy a few times, he's alright. I haven't been on Coastalfans in a while, i'll go see what those folks are up to. Probably bitching about the weather.

Some of those guys at Coastalfans.com are better at this than I (and have more time to spend). Here's from CaptainCluck

Offense is the best we've ever had around here. We spread it out and run zone read. Currently 3rd in FCS scoring (43 ppg) and 10th in total offense (493 ypg). Set a conference record with six 50 point games, with nine games above 40 points. Alex Ross is our QB and he's a special one. 2,706 passing yards, 22 TDs, 7 picks but only one INT in the last six games (and that was against FBS S. Carolina and their best CB Vic Hampton). Only a soph. Our running game ranks 7th in FCS at 263 ypg and is led by Payton candidate Lorenzo Taliaferro (6-2, 230). He's second in FCS scoring with 24 rush TDs and 2 rec TDs, 10th in rush yards per game at 121 per. Great between the tackles with power but sneaky fast if he gets to the corner. Hop Henderson (541 yards) has speed to burn and will get carries as well.

Wideouts are deep, talented and experienced with Matt Hazel (58 rec, 8 TDs) being the best of that bunch. He made phenomenal one-handed TD catch vs. Cookman against double coverage. That highlight is on Youtube. Big play guy. O-line all Jrs and Srs, with three of them (LT Hamilton, LG Cheatwood, and RT Herring) 1st team All-conference. Good barometer for us is 200+ yards rushing. We are 55-5 in 11 seasons when we get to 200 on the ground.

Defensively, we'll give up yards and some points. But if you get us, it's usually in the first half because our staff does a really nice job of making adjustments at the break. 225 points allowed in the first half, 149 in the second. LB Quinn Backus (Jr, 5-10, 205) is our best defender. 126 tackles, 10 TFLs, 3 INT’s and two TD’s this season. Guy is in on ton of plays. He’s the two-time BSC Def. Player of the Year. And he’s got another year to play. D-line is solid and we rotate a number of guys in and out. We’re pretty good on the back end too, but banged up a little. One of our starting corners went down with a shoulder a couple of weeks ago. We have a special teams weapon in LaDarius Hawthorne, who will play the hybrid (LB or Spur) on D but HAS to be accounted for in the kicking game as well. He’s blocked 3 FGs this season, two of which either turned a game around or won the game. Guy just makes big plays for us.

Kicking game solid with PK Alex Catron (1st team BSC) and P Austin Cain. Mid-season we found a KOR guy in Devin Brown, who brought one back 95 vs VMI and ate up a couple of other teams with big returns. PR guy is Niccolo Mastromatteo, very sure hands and has been known to break one or two. He's one of our wideouts too.

Not sure. This is the first year SUU made the playoffs and we were down South in the heat. I will let you know next year when SUU rolls the Griz in the playoffs in Wa-Griz. :chair:
I was just being general. I know the O-line will show up with no sleeves and push the opposing team around and show them how Montana boys do things...I just don't need another game to come down to the last 2 minutes. Lunch/beers on Friday?
I won't be in town until Friday evening, we'll see what I can do after that.

We know it really doesn't matter but the projected high in Missoula for Saturday is now "5" degrees with winds from the ENE at 6 mph or basically a small draft from Hellgate canyon.....

Another thing that doesn't mater but with a high of 5 degrees the WCF (that's wind chill factor not some gorilla wrestling organization) is about -7 degrees.

Were going to have to wrap electric blankets around the kegs if anyone wants beer........

Our local paper is covering the situation

http://www.postandcourier.com/article/2 ... -with-cold" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Chicken soup is good for the soul, they say. It might also be good for the core body temperature of Coastal Carolina football players this weekend. Installing a soup bar in the locker room for Saturday’s FCS playoff game at Montana is just one of the steps Chanticleers coach Joe Moglia is contemplating to combat the cold expected at the Grizzlies’ Washington-Grizzly Stadium. Montana running back Jordan Canada explained to reporters this week.

“Your hands and arms get numb, so you have to focus a little bit more on it,” said Canada. “You can’t feel the ball in your arms if it’s really cold. One play, your hand or arm goes numb and the next play you might not necessarily be aware of the ball.”

Moglia, whose Chanticleers will depart from Conway on Thursday – when temperatures on the Grand Strand will reach a balmy 77 degrees – is well aware of the challenge.

“We’re kidding ourselves if we make believe we’re going to acclimate to the cold weather in 48 hours,” he said this week. “It takes weeks to do it right. Hopefully, we’re going to have a good heating system on the sideline.”
