And STILL you lost the following week. Just like clockwork. :coffee: :kisswink:
Montana punched UNI in the freaking mind. They still ain't right. Dared the QB to beat them with the pass and he failed.

Now "THAT THERE" is funny, hats off to you.
Didn't realize you thought this 0-6 team you beat is part of the toughest part of the griz schedule I was referring to.
Oh well. ....

I wasn't talking about the team we smoked. I was talking about the team UNI lost to. ;) Image
Now I change it up a bit, UNI has now lost 3 close games to 3 good teams, but they are not out of the playoffs yet any more than you or "anybody" is guaranteed a spot yet.
We all still have a lot of tough teams to go thru still.
Just like UND beat Calpoly who beat you, but that doesn't mean that it is "guaranteed" that they will do better than the griz at the end of the season (even though it is likely?)

Maybe,
The fact is the Griz have a harder schedule overall still to go for this to be a possibility.
UNI has lost 2 against 2 good teams, and in close games.

Wait, you seriously think the Griz have a tougher remaining schedule than UNI? The only team that should gives me any sort of pause is EWU, whereas UNI has YSU, NDSU, WIU and SDSU to contend with.

The home games are gimmes, but NoCo is dangerous and NAU will be a battle if Cookus is back.

NoCo certainly look more dangerous than usual, but not enough so that you could say our remaining schedule is more difficult than UNI's.

No, certainly not as difficult as UNI's, but there are more potential landmines than just EWU.

No ... I think that the remaining schedule for the griz doesn't have 2 teams as lowly ranked as the one they played last week and the season opener.
(maybe even sacst is better? )
UNI usually gets real tough as the season goes on, they lost a lot of nfl caliber talent on defense last year, we will see.

MVSU was a cupcake but St. Francis gave Towson all they could handle so I don't think they are as bad as most people think. By the way, the Griz lost 3 LB last year (all were in pro training camps and one DE who is in the NFL) yet the Montana D is strong this year. Lots of games to be played so we will see where it all ends up

True
And the UNI defense is still strong, lost 3 close games to 3 good teams.
Your right, a lot of year left to see how it goes for all our teams.

In my opinion, the "Griz Hangover" only happens after a team beats Montana (For most teams that's a rare thing, thus the hangover effect). A loss is usually expected... a win elevates a team.

So what have the results been for teams after they've beaten the Griz? (Leaving out 2014 Wyoming, 2011 Tennessee, and 2006 Iowa FBS games & National Championships where Griz lost.)
2016 0-1
Cal Poly - W against Griz, L to UND following week.

2015 2-3
Cal Poly - W against Griz, L to Arizona State following week.
Liberty - W against Griz, L to Southern Illinois following week.
Weber State - W against Griz, W against North Dakota following week (1pt win).
Portland State - W against Griz, L to Northern Colorado following week.
NDSU (playoff) - W against Griz, W against Northern Iowa following week.

2014 3-1
NDSU - W against Griz, W against Western Illinois following week.
Cal Poly - W against Griz, W against Montana State following week.
EWU - W against Griz, W against Portland State following week.
EWU (playoff) - W against Griz, L to Illinois State following week.

2013 1-2
NAU - W against Griz, L to Montana State following week.
EWU - W against Griz, W against Idaho State following week.
Coastal Carolina (playoff) - W against Griz, L to NDSU following week

2012 3-3
App State - W against Griz, L to The Citadel following week.
NAU - W against Griz, W against Portland State following week.
EWU - W against Griz, W against UND following week
SUU - W against Griz, L to Weber State following week
UND - W against Griz, L to Montana State following week
MSU - W against Griz, W against Stony Brook following week

2011 0-2
Sac State - W against Griz, L to Montana State following week.
SHSU (playoff) W against Griz, L to NDSU following week.

2010 0-4
Cal Poly - W against Griz, L to Texas State following week
EWU - W against Griz, L to Montana State following week
Weber State - W against Griz, L to Montana State following week
MSU - W against Griz, L to NDSU following week

2008 1-0
Weber State - W against Griz, W against Montana State following week.

2007 0-1
Wofford (playoff) - W against Griz, L to Richmond following week.

2006 0-1
uMass (playoff) - W against Griz, L to App State following week.
So in the last 10 seasons, teams that have won against the Griz have gone a combined 10-18 the following week.
