UNC stadium is undersized, but thats mainly because they just came up from D-2 and have won 3 games in the past three seasons. UNC has had school record attendance at a couple games in those seasons but the fans only stay for the first half. If they could win some more games it would bring more fans which would lead to stadium expansion.

I think Scott Downing is great at recruiting and hopefully since his recruiting classes are becoming upperclassmen and have learned his system that it will show this year. Every year it seems at least one team beats us on a hail mary to win the game, last year it was UC Davis and the year before that it was MSU.

The deal at UNC is that they are third in line for state funding, and geographically too close to Air Force Academy, CU, CSU, Wyoming, and the Broncos. They ain't never going to draw a Montana sized crowd regardless of who they were playing sans one of the aforementioned competing venues.

The thing they do have gentlemen, believe it or not, is a fertile recruiting area that lies right under the radar of the big boys. Given time, and finding support, this program can find it's way to the top.

And Clenz, you from Iowa boy, you know what cow poop smells like. That's about all Iowa would have in common with Greeley.

I watched a few UNC games last year; that was some of the worst luck I've seen! Weren't they going in for the tying/go ahead score against somebody, time running down, on like the 1 yard line, and fumbled it away?

They could be better this year, but I'd still put them bottom half of the Sky. 4th would be a great year for them IMO, but I think the poll has them about right at 6th. Waggener was pretty solid last year, but they are going to need more production out of the running game before they are a contender.

I agree. UNC doesn't get much love from the state of colorado, even back when we won back to back D2 national championships, we got like a 10 second spot of the local news. When you have 2 FBS school with in an hours drive its hard to compete for fan base.

I had never been to CO before my trip there earlier this month, I never knew how many schools were right around there.

Colorado and Colorado State are almost right on top of you, along with Wyoming. Tough to get any kind of love around there.

Worse than that Clenzy, UNC is a state institution, the third in line, the others get the bucks and the love.

And, you do have to drive around quite a bit to really find the newer end of Greeley. As for the campus, unless somebody was guiding you, you may have missed a lot of it. The buildings around the athletic complex are referred to as "West Campus" The Central Campus is N and E of the West Campus and only adjoins by way of kitty corner via the University Center, there are some cool buildings there. Then there is the Old Campus , hopefully you did not find that along with old Jackson field and mistake that for UNC??

This part of the University is well over a hundred years old.

I dont know man. Nor col is missing that dominant, leader, all american type QB. imho you aint goin nowhere without a great QB. Look at Weber, Montana, & EWU... MSU when they had Lulay, & NAU when they had Murietta.

I think UNC has the 2nd nicest campus in Colorado behind CU. The old buildings at UNC are really cool, much nicer than CSU (although Ft. Collins is a much nicer city then Greeley).

Clenz, your wife will want to go to UNC if she's interested in the following: Teaching, nursing, music, theatre, audiology, undergrad business. No other Colorado institution can touch us on those.

I went to the Texas St/UNC game last year. I enjoyed the campus and stadium. Yes the stadium was smaller then others I've been too but it worked. Maybe because it was UNCs home opener but it was very close to a sell out. I was expecting Greeley to suck since all you hear about are the feed lots near by, but again I liked the town. The downtown square was nice and so was the other side of town past the stadium where the restaurants are.

Top thing for me was the women. There were a lot of good looking coeds there.

Starting with that game, we lost in the last minute four times in six games. By the end of that stretch I was ready to shoot somebody.

I for one am dreading our trip to Greeley this year. Last year we stole it in Portland. Remains to be seen.

I wouldn't say we stole it. 3 point difference in the end of a hard-fought game. By the end of the season we were just staggering along. Two not very good teams. Both of us will have improved this year - it will probably be another tight game, with Northern Colorado having the home advantage. PSU does seem a little deeper at most positions, which ought to help. As I said before, PSU is an enigma - too many new names and new coaches. We'll know fast, what with two of the first three games being OSU and Montana.

Not to mention the last game of September, at home against Weber.

Will someone post pictures, or a map with the nice section of Greeley marked off for me?

I really feel that I missed it.
