Montana State @ EWU
Re: Montana State @ EWU
Wow, huge push-off by MSU WR and he gets the TD. Another great game for the refs...18-14 MSU

We were robbed on that last TD..
EWU will probably get the win..but if we had our field goal kicker this may not even be a game...

I watched it a couple of time but I can't see how it wasn't a TD either.bpcats wrote:We were robbed on that last TD..

Re: Montana State @ EWU
His one foot got inside the pylon ..I understand why they waved it off..but replay that they showed he got it in..barely..
Re: Montana State @ EWU
That was Minter, true freshman DT, they had kicker tryout during pregame, I heard he won.MrTitleist wrote:I saw one of MSUs kickoffs where they had a giant guy kicking them.
Re: Montana State @ EWU
Eagles got the win, can't take that away, but they were beat on the field by a badly banged up/sick Cats team. Among all the players that didn't make the trip were punter Eric Fisher (#1 in FCS) and kicker Jason "Sunshine" Cunningham. A true freshman walkon handled the punting duties and a true freshman DL did the kickoffs. Despite what difference Fisher would've made in field position, the biggest difference was not having Cunningham who would easily have put 9-12 point on the board w/ FG's and another 4 w/ PAT's- add in the TD the zebras botched and the game wasn't close. The Cats offense easily played the best game so far this year after Cody Kempt took over at QB in the 1st quarter, I haven't seen official stats yet but think the Cats were just under 600 total yards. As bad as the injury situation was on 'D' the young guys really played well. today the illness bug hurt more than injuries.
Re: Montana State @ EWU
True, the Cats did dominate the majority of that game. I don't know where the defense was, they were consistently dominated on the line, and then gave up huge plays off play-action in the secondary. It was truly a sub-par performance on their part. One area where we are really lacking is in the linebacker position, and it showed yesterday. We have 3 or 4 linebackers out for the season, and just don't have any depth there, obviously besides Sherritt, who is a beast.
I honestly thought we were going to lose that game, and then we came alive in the 4th. It's debatable about the TD...........that would have been a hard call to make even had they been right there on the spot, which they were not. What I didn't like about it is how they deliberated for two minutes until they made the call. Looking for cleat prints on the turf, come on........
Either way, I would have liked to have seen a "good" replay of it.....every replay they showed of it was at an angle where you couldn't tell anything either way....but it could very well have been a blown call, who knows. I do think it was funny that some Cat fans thought that we were somehow getting "make up" calls because of what happened last week in Missoula.
I didn't think the refs did that bad of a job. There were, of course, the usual few calls that are always missed.
Did MSU derserve to win the game? Probably.....but they didn't finish, and we were able to get some huge plays in the 4th that had nothing to do with bad officiating.....Jones is a game-breaker. And don't forget that MSU was stopped twice on 4th down in the 4th quarter.

Re: Montana State @ EWU
We're 3-0 going back to 2005 at WaGriz stadium in deserved to win games.
As for injuries and illness, everyone has them. Nichols had the flu yesterday as well, and I'm sure he wasn't the only eagle given how widespread it is around Cheney. And we of course were without Boyce and two starters at linebacker.
Officiating continued to be bad for both teams.
MSU is a big physical team and I can see how they beat Weber. They might also be a tough match-up for the Griz at the end of the season, especially if the offense plays like it did yesterday.

I am hoping that MSU can get healed up enough to challenge the Griz. If they can execute a game plan like they did yesterday, they might compete, especially given the game is @ MSU this year.kalm wrote:We're 3-0 going back to 2005 at WaGriz stadium in deserved to win games.![]()

Ok, Ive cooled down some now but I still dont see how EWU can make it through the rest of they year without another conference loss. I also think MSU has a very good shot at winning out.
One of the good things I can take from the game is that only 3 seniors had signifigent playing time, so basicly this was next years team without our kickers
The pass was a TD, and we couldnt overcome the momentum shift that was caused by the call, thats somthing that all teams need to be able to do with the quality of refs we have have in the BSC.

PSU is a very winnable game, and at NAU will be tough but if it turns into a shootout EWU will be in the mix. I think they have just as good of a chance, if not a better one, of winning out than MSU.cats2506 wrote:Ok, Ive cooled down some now but I still dont see how EWU can make it through the rest of they year without another conference loss. I have seen EWU vs WSU, um & MSU, sorry I'm not impressed, I just dotn see them getting around NAU, a much more complete team.Grizalltheway wrote:PSU is a very winnable game, and at NAU will be tough but if it turns into a shootout EWU will be in the mix. MSU on the other hand has discoverd an offense that is consistently improving and becoming a threat, with ISU next week should give us some time to heal up from the flu and otther injuries.
I know what your getting at but I'm not convinced that the team down the road is out of reach.

Ha, thats cute, I have no problem with what you think of the Cats, as I said I think we have a good shot at finishing up the season with 2 BSC losses, You seem to have a problem with me saying that your overrated as a top 25 team and not thinking you have much hope in finishing the season with less than 3 losses in conference.Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:kalm wrote:

Re: Montana State @ EWU
And last year we finished the conference with 3 losses at 6-5 overall and if I remember right we're in the top 25 in at least some of the polls. Perhaps you think we're overated right now because our only losses to Weber, Montana, and Cal weren't quality enough. Of course that would make your win against Weber less quality as well. Or perhaps you don't think that at this point we have a quality win either.cats2506 wrote:Ha, thats cute, I have no problem with what you think of the Cats, as I said I think we have a good shot at finishing up the season with 2 BSC losses, You seem to have a problem with me saying that your overrated as a top 25 team and not thinking you have much hope in finishing the season with less than 3 losses in conference.Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:

As I mentioned earlier, I think the cats are a big physical team that might give the Griz some fits. I think you have a shot of finishing with two losses too - but no more of a shot than EWU has.
Your track record against the Griz ain't that great, and they are a solid team. By comparison, our tilt against NAU will be no picnic either, but we have had more recent success with them and we tend to finish strong playing our best football in November. NAU took the griz to OT at home and we were one bad call away from getting the ball back in a tie game with two minutes in change at Missoula. Both offenses are terrific, but we might have an edge in senior leadership and statistically are a little better at D. So it should be a good game.
Perhaps we both win out, Weber beats Montana but also loses to NAU. Wouldn't that make it a 5 way tie at the top. Perhaps we'd all be overated then.
