Congrats to UD. You guys are faster than I expected and solid gamers. Sure we had turnovers, all 5 of them, but you were the better team and deserve the win. Best of luck in Frisco. We'll have to play this game again next year in Statesboro.
This first year coaching staff with a bunch of freshman and sophomores were expected to win 5 or 6 games. We were not supposed to be in the playoffs. We should have been one and done against SC State. W&M should have shut us down. Wofford already beat us once but we had a chance to play again today. No shame for our boys in blue and white. The clock struck midnight on our season and I am proud of what our young men did with it.
And now we drink.

I think they said 6 turnovers...so 12 turnovers in two semi games by the losing teams.
GSU is young and will be a team to watch next year
Congrats to both teams

Nice job by UD.
They did what a seeded experienced team playing at home should do against a less experienced foe, which is stay solid, let the younger team make mistakes, then close the deal. Delaware played a clean game under championship pressure and that is impressive.
They are a deserving finalist. A tip of the cap to them.

Any word on the Delaware receiver? That was really unpleasant. I hope he is ok.

Reports say Tommy Crosby lost consciousness on the field and, therefore, was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure for further observation. Sounds like a concussion to me and, hopefully, he will make a full recovery.ttgwm02 wrote:Any word on the Delaware receiver? That was really unpleasant. I hope he is ok.

Back from the game.. GSU has a very good team and will be a force next year if they don't get too full of themselves as I'm sure they will be hearing that predition all through the off season. The key to the game to me was GSUs failure to score on their long opening drive. That was a killer and thereafter the UD defense seemed to accalimate to the TO pretty well. Another factor was GSU's inability to pressure Devlin.. as the UD OL did a great job in pass protection . Also the Hens were able to run the ball better than I expected.. as they really had over 200 yrds on the ground if you take away the yrds UD lost from the bad center snaps to Devlin. And of course the major factor.. turnovers. You just can not turn it over vs a good opponent and win the game. Nova experienced that last night and GSU today. So it's on to Frisco.. in three weeks.. I just hope that fans will still care about the FCS title game by the time we get to January 7th.

All his limps were moving before they strapped him to the board and he waved as he was rolled off the field. It appeared he was out cold for a few moments,SunCoastBlueHen wrote:Reports say Tommy Crosby lost consciousness on the field and, therefore, was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure for further observation. I caught up with my GSU friends before the game at the Mickey D's near the Stadium. They were hoping for 500-1000 GSU attendees. Did they make it? I know they travel pretty well.

I said it in another thread, but they filled 2/3 of Section I. I'd say they were right in that range, IT. It was a nice turnout.Ivytalk wrote:I caught up with my GSU friends before the game at the Mickey D's near the Stadium. They were hoping for 500-1000 GSU attendees. Did they make it? Just for the record the 6th turnover was a pick on the last offensive GSU series. It was on a 4th down and had the ball simply been incomplete the Hens would have been 8 yards better. Since it makes no difference where one takes a knee, there was no game impact. That being said the last "turnover" had zero importance on the game

Correct you are but the unforced error by the true FR receiver (who I can't remember dropping any until yesterday) was a fitting end (at least in the eyes of the GSU faithful) to a miserable day.blukeys wrote:Just for the record the 6th turnover was a pick on the last offensive GSU series. I still can't get over the fact that GSU was facing UD in a national semi-final with an offense that had as many as 5 true FR and/or 7 Sophs on the field at a given time.
The following freshmen logged significant playing time for GSU yesterday with those in bold starters:
5, 26, 71, 37, 90, 62, 15, 96, 59, 18, 52, 99.
UD showed us all how championship teams go about their business. GSU's defense was never able to get the big negative play or turnover that had to a large extent defined their playoff run. That's good coaching and even better execution.
UD's defense, while getting a gift or two that helped, never allowed the easy score and stayed solid and made GSU earn everything they got. It is hard to compare UD and Navy because GSU was really a different team when they played Navy but you can easily make an argument that UD was the best team GSU saw this year. IMO they are championship worthy.

It was GSU that didn't do themselves any favors and the breaks UD got were supplied by the Eagles. As to the refs they called a good game. You were all mouth and no humility pre-game Pwns and I've seen no posting to show any respect so you've earned this.Pwns wrote:UD getting all the breaks, and the refs not doing us any favors, either.

You've got a very good football team and that experience from yesterdays game will do a lot for you in 2011. The downside of the triple option showed yesterday but another spring practice will help you guys a lot. Good fan turn out too. Your fan base was larger than just the tickets sold thru your ticket office buy 1/3 I'd guess. There were GSU hats scattered throughout my section. Good luck next year and I am glad I'm not Appy or Wofford.bobbythekidd wrote:Congrats to UD. You guys are faster than I expected and solid gamers. It was definitely one of the larger turnouts for a visiting team. But I have to say, 90% of the GSU fans I saw were the most redneck looking and sounding (at least pre-game and first quarter) fans I've ever seen in my life. I mean, we have plenty of fans who wear camo to cold weather games, but the GSU fans even spit their tobacco products in camo.93henfan wrote:I said it in another thread, but they filled 2/3 of Section I.
