The win over Montana hurt NDSU because at that time D2 actually penalized teams for playing an FCS (D-1AA at the time) squad. As far as I can tell the proposal is not retroactive. It would affect future games only. NDSUs win over Montana remains on record and continues to be celebrated coast-to-coast.

Prior to the game I read little other than how EWU was a mirror of MSU, how weak the Big Sky was, and how great NDSU was. How Jones was "not that fast", blah blah blah blah blah.

When I look at EWU, I see Montana State.

eagles lack skill. they are bad.

These guys would be middle of the pack at best in the mvfc. they can't take a hit.

Then after the game it was a bunch of excuses by many (not all) NDSU fans.

It turns out EWU was a better squad last season. As for the other posters, I will apologize on their behalf. As you may already know there are some BISON fans that lack perspective, I would add EndzoneQB and TJ Bison to that list as well. I apologize for them too!

No, I am not implying that the comparison was an insult. Montana State is a solid program and the co Big Sky Champs.

But when you made the comment, you didn't mean it as a compliment, either. Come on. I think you were implying that EWU would wear down towards the end of the game due to a perceived lack of physicality of the west coast brand of football. I think we proved otherwise.

To hear UNI fans last season, after the defeat at home against Lehigh, you would have thought UNI gave them the game. There was little if no respect for them and the reasons for the victory generally boiled down to UNI didnt "show up" they "blew it".

Not really. Shared titles happen more often than not in the Big Sky. Of the 5 Conference titles EWU has won, only one (1997) was won outright and not shared.
