Yes, we were screwed by the officials in the EWU game. While that screwup did in fact botch a chance for us to immediately end the game, we still had several other chances to win.JohnStOnge wrote: Nah. Delaware got jobbed by the officials with the spot they gave EWU on that critical fourth down play that kept the Eagles' winning TD drive alive. The guy didn't make the first down.
Well, I sholdn't say "job" as that implies the officials did it on purpose and it's a tough task to spot the ball on a play like that. Let's just say they caught a break when they didn't make the first down but ended up getting the spot.
Good post. I'm sorry for your lost, sincerely.Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:Congrats to Towson, their team definitely earned the win today, and their fans aren't pathetic blowhards who are still butthurt about games that took place years ago.![]()

Interesting...their were a few open seats on the east and north sides but that's about it. I'm guessing it was just a few hundred less than capacity.Bronco wrote:Watching the ESPN readers talking about the red field while playing the highlights...was not complementary
They were laughing.
EWU has some great players and deserve better fan support...This is why the game was on the internet and a channel that most don't get.
Attendance 6,209
We've averaged a sellout for three straight years now and the Gateway project is much further down the path from the Wulff era....I think there's a thread here regarding the planning including design images. A few years back, the university took numerous trips around the country to stadiums like App st. and JMU, meeting their officials regarding the improvements they've made.Bronco wrote:You should build some nice places for TV on the other side so it can point toward the fans and the good side of the stadium
It doesn't look good now
The last time I saw the video on the expansion it had Paul Wolf (sp) as the main speaker. so what 4-5 years old now
I wouldn't invest any personal money on the expansion until this one is full and there is a waiting list for seats
There's a reason not very many saw your game. You had to be a fan of the fcs playoffs to find it.
NDSU got some casual Friday night football fans that watched the 1st half anyways and ESPN couldn't have been bigger fans of their program
The D2 game was on national TV...they should have been on the net
Maybe it's time to follow the Eagles and ASU and get out of the FCS
The attendance this year has been pitiful

Not too many years ago ESPN supported the FCS playoffs a lot better...it has me worried

No, it wasn't, and if it had been a Montana player you'd be all about it. GFYS.Bronco wrote:I used to root for EWU

The legal play was unnecessary. It was behind the play. It was a shot from the blind side. Pretty much what they call a defenseless player now a days
I sit behind the visitors bench so that gif stops a little short. Doesn't show the chest pounding and pointing to his bench and crowd. It was a dick move.
You can't argue facts with someone who's obviously already made up their mind.kalm wrote:We've averaged a sellout for three straight years now and the Gateway project is much further down the path from the Wulff era....I think there's a thread here regarding the planning including design images. Agree in the need for improvements but these things take time. WGS did too.
If you come to a game in Cheney, you'll find the recent additions of the video screen, expanded upper parking lot, concessions, and stadium apparel store are significant. We're better than we were just two years ago and light years ahead of where we were in the mid 2000's.
That's only if you consider it a cheap shot, which I don't. Was a completely legal downfield block. You just don't like the fact that a 190 pound QB did it to a 230 LB.Grizalltheway wrote:But SE isn't a douche for keeping a gif of a cheap shot as his avatar two months after the game?EWURanger wrote:

I can tell this loss really hurt you so I will be brief and gentle. In your post game grieving you are underestimating how good Towson is. Eastern Washington is not a better team. They were beaten at home with a second string QB. The better team won this game.BlackFalkin wrote:What really bothers me about the lost yesterday is that Eastern was so much better than Towson. about Vernon Adams, he seem to play a mediocre game yesterday, he's a great quarterback but it seems like in these playoffs and in cold weather he is not the same person that he was in August and September.
you can say that football is a team sport and It is, but Vernon Adams' mistakes yesterday we're very crucial.. The play before halftime!?? There were two other times that Eastern was inside the 3 yard line and didn't score a touchdown. Vernon Adams talent didn't fail, he failed mentally.
On 4th and 2. Vernon did everything right except deliver a good ball. And Kupp almost and should very had that catch. Vernon was not clutch.
On EWU defense. That last drive the game was on the line and EWU defense looked liker they were a scout team out there. They were playing so passive, it was mind blowing. Towson got out of bounds like 9 times during the drive... same sideline and all. We all knew towson was going to score a td on that drive. EWU shouldve been in a base defense instead of that prevent, 3 man rush, bullshxt. EWU defense looked like they bad blindfolds on in that last drive.
Losing this game. Losing in the semifinals twice back to back is no coincidence. Vernon KNEW what was at stake and he KNEW the taste on a semifinal loss. He dedicated this season to avenging last seasons' heartbreaking loss in the semifinals, and failed to execute in the same game. All the season accolades mean nothing if u can't win when it counts.
Vernon Adams being a sophomore. I wish he was a senior so this would be the last year of him leading the team. Why? He can't win WHEN IT MATTERS MOST. It's not in him. I think he's a great quarterback and person. But i don't think he has the heart of a champion.
Walter Payton award. I feel like it was Vernon who deserved it. I think Terrance west is a good back but I've seen much better. Taiwan Jones was much better playmaker than west. What back cant get 100 yards on 30 carries? Vernon played like your average quarterback during the playoffs and he's proving the voters made the right choice by giving it to the other qb. Having said that, I think Vernon had the best season he could and I don't see him winning the award in either of the next two sseasons. Think about it, how many 75 yard bombs to shaq hill did you see in the playoffs? How many 40 yard strikes to Kupp did we see in the playoffs? 1? None? The playoffs exposed Vernon Adams. He is a great player, but his downfall is clutch situations he has a breakdown. Not regular season blah blah, clutch, season on the line, championship on the line type situations. Mental execution errors.
Roos Field. Watched the game twice, second time on my big screen on HD, Roos needs an expansion badly. Red turf it cool, but looking at the parking lot and 300 fans in a hs bleacher is hard on the eyes, I'm having to explain to people "oh they're gonna renovate". That needs to happen pronto. Other than that it was great to see EWU on espn, just wish they would have won.
To be honest, that loss really sucked, and I wasn't even playing. The first Sam houston loss was bad but that was the quarters, and we still had Meyer and Kimble coming back. That UNI loss was also tough. The 2012 shsu loss sucked but I wasn't watching and I knew deep down that shsu was probably going to win. But this....... EWU more talented, simply outplayed by a group of nobody's on the red turf. Towson had more nuts and courage in the end.
Townson was better. Plain and simple. I know you have this tough guy exterior but be realistic. Towson showed up to win and put on a show. At theme of the 4th quarter, EWU wasn't good enough and you under estimated TU.BlackFalkin wrote:What really bothers me about the lost yesterday is that Eastern was so much better than Towson. Hey Clucky, when you're done you might want to go check the stats. We gained 580 yards on that "physical" CAA defense...100 more than Towson gained and it took them 55 carries to get their rushing yards. Btw, they had an impressive 4.4 ypr vs. EWU's 6.2 against a ...you know...manly CAA defense.Cluck U wrote:BlackFalkin wrote:What really bothers me about the lost yesterday is that Eastern was so much better than Towson.

Towson was the better team, by far.![]()
Towson beat you with a second string QB.![]()
![]()
And they simply overpowered your silly azz D-line and LBs. The Tigers smashed through your defense with POWER when EVERYONE knew they were going to run.![]()
Your players simply were swatted away when it counted...they could not man up.
The only reason that game was close was because Towson's QB got hurt on a play where he lost focus. Otherwise, EWU gets their azzes blown off the field. Sh*t happens. It took Towson a couple series to get their mojo back, and EWU took advantage of some fourth down plays, but, similar to EIU, you can't live on fourth down conversions all day when you aren't good enough to get it done in the first three downs.![]()
Any good back can get 100+ yards when you have a balanced offense, but only good RBs can get you over 100 yards when everyone knows you are going to run.
Vernon choked when he met good defenses...plain and simple. He was a product of some big, fluffy defenses and he folded like a cheap suit when he faced some big boys. Payton? Cripes, he should not have been a finalist...and would not have been had he been from a real Eastern team.
BTW< don't confuse "playing passive" with being worn down and beaten. Towson ran it right down EWU's throat...and there was nothing the Eaglets could do to stop Towson. Just another example of when boys are pitted against real men...the boys collapse and give up when the pressure is on. Watch that last TD again and you will understand how beaten the Eagles were. Game on the line, after two time outs gave them a little rest, and EWU's D-Line and LBs got pushed into the kiddie seats.![]()
Sit down little boys, you were manhandled when it counted.![]()
Overrated Eagles didn't deserve their high seed, once again. Cripes, you've had several games given to you...and now you can't even win when you have a fraud home game advantage.
Hope the selection committee takes note that you've repeatedly earned you permanent place on the road for any future playoff games.
