Glass half full! I think he meant Saint's wife.

Yeah, SLL, if you meant my wife, I'd be really upset. She was in a bear-mauling accident out in Wyoming a few weeks back and didn't make it. The good thing is, I think I have a real good case against Polaris because her RZR was too slow to outrun a grizzly, which the salesman specifically said wouldn't be an issue.

Well I confess complete ignorance to any inside joke twisted humor now taking place, but I can assure you that no good Blue Hen woman would ever bring a dish that included chicken into the Blue Hen Tower Martini Tailgate, so I had to have been referring to our disgruntled App compadre's spouse.

Back on topic, I haven't seen a single new picture of JMU's stadium in like three or four days.

Could I get a shot of it reflected in a lake or a mud puddle or whatever water they have on campus down there? Any fireworks shots from the 4th? Any frat guys bang out a sorority chick in the new upper deck and get a picture of her tramp stamp?

C'mon. We need pics.

Last month of construction. Putting last touches on this phase. Beautiful round of pics by Deez Nutz.

Damn! :D

There are some very recent aerial shots on CAAZone that make the place look huge...how it holds 25,000 I don't know, looks bigger, especially in person at 13 stories tall

I think JMU got this project right. We better win baby, and fast.

Should have gone with purple railings, but hey, that's just me. Those silver ones seem to stand out too much.

Instructions:
Step 1 - Tie end of streamer firmly to wrist or ankle
Step 2 - Throw streamer as hard as you can towards the field.

27,000? I thought was going to be the capacity, 25k just the marketing slogan?

Some people on the zone claiming to know such things say capacity is 27,000 but "25K strong" sounds better...who knows? :geek:

Okay, from what I've been told, total capacity is JUST shy of 27,000. Something like 26,895. BUT, 25K sounds a lot better for marketing purposes. Also, with the temp. endzone bleachers, old Bridgeforth seated just over 15k ... but games like ASU had announced attendance around 16,400 ... so there's clearly some wiggle-room in those numbers ... especially when the students and gen admission seats can be packed in on the old side.

Same at KBS - we have "official" seating of ~ 21.5K, but for big games will pack in 31K+. Lots of SRO over the last few years.

I'd like to see Appy on our schedule often...screw the logic of the magic number of wins you gotta have to make the playoffs, that is a fun game with numbers and if you're good who wants cup cakes? :coffee:

I would tell you that we're putting some former QBs up there for support, but...well, I think we all know where this is going.

Fair enough - seems like it's a good rivalry, and relatively close by. :thumb:

True on the 15k for 05'-07'. 08'-09' the temp endzone was expanded by 500ish to bring up the listed capacity to 15,500.

ASU was announced 17,163.
"HARRISONBURG, Va., Sept. 20, 2008 – James Madison outscored Appalachian State 35-11 in the second half, turning a 21-0 halftime deficit into a 35-32 victory in a meeting of top-five ranked football teams on Saturday evening in front of a Bridgeforth Stadium/Zane Showker Field record crowd of 17,163......"

That record still stands, but will be shattered on Sept 10.

Great set of pictures.... do you all REALLY, and I mean honestly believe that you're going to pack that place out this year? I'm sure down the road in the near future you'll get a sellout somewhere... maybe when we come to town in '12.... bahahaha... but I just don't see it this year.

Now if they'd just build the OTHER half of the stadium, it might look REALLY good... 8-) 8-)

As others have said, if we packed it all the time this year, it'd be a pretty stupid build out. I suspect we MIGHT sell out the home opener and possibly parents weekend or homecoming. The irony is that those sellouts, if they happen, would be the ones that would leave the stadium the emptiest at the end, so I'm okay if they don't sell out.

I still like the plan. As strategic as it is for WVU to play us at FedEx field next year, it's just as strategic for us. Harrisonburg's just a couple of hours from DC and if we can get a few of those DC fans to get energized and come down more often, combined with an expanding alumni base, we'll be on our way to filling it up.

You know, now that you mention it, it does seem kind of lopsided. Thanks for pointing that out. Hadn't noticed that before. You were the first one to relay that concept to me.

Lopsided, I know I'm biased but in person the lopsided factor is not all that bad... I'm still in shock this has been pulled off, especially now, if the timeing had been 6-9 months later, who knows...

I think we can sell it out a few times a year w/FCS programs...I hope game one sells out!!! then homecomings, parent weekends and maybe ODU if ODU brings a nice crowd (3 hrs)...Liberty brings a few buses...DE & W&M?

JMU has the nutz to expand and fill if we ever find ourselves in a disirable fbs conference, the never ending debate :ugeek:
