UNI was not a great team last year and they will be worse next season. They were competitive in the conference but that isnt saying much. Returning your best skilled players may be the problem. Supposedly the Panthers were down the year they got beat by an unknown D2 team, but they have never really come back. They didnt even get through a weak MVFC as a contender. NDSU put up over 500 yds on UNI last year. ISU put the dagger in the pipe dream. My impressions of SIU arent much better. Over-blown hype but they did fill a bracket spot, again.
I think ISU and NDSU are the teams to watch this year. The only great team the MVFC has had is YSU and as pointed out they are a distant memory. The future is NDSU. They have the fan base, a program that has shown over the past decades it is committed to football and they have the facilities. The national championship game in Chatty rarely draws more than an NDSU football game.
As for SDSU they have had a nice run on NDSU. I see it going to their heads and thats a good sign.
I have to say NDSU's best years it appears was when they were playing the Great West..And I really think SDSU will be a good team again. They are bringing back alot of talent but hopefully they can learn to hold on to a lead this year...that Montana game was hard to watch if you were a Jackrabbit fan.
No reason for lakes to "go away". His posts are always good for a laugh.
Personally, I don't really know how next season's UNI team will turn out.
But frankly, I almost prefer those years when the Panthers aren't getting all sorts of preseason hype/expectations. As they often seem to perform better in that role than when they are the league favorites. But who knows.
dont worry clenz, we'll give cedar falls some economic stimulation like the 3000+ ndsu fans did 2 years ago and like we helped THUMPER with our 5000-7000 ndsu fans in brookings. you should both be thanking us.

5000-7000??
Bison fans filled up a little over 1/3 of the east side stands with their band. I'd say maybe 2000, maybe.
Go Jacks and Woo Pig! Long live Agricultural Universities!

The more the merrier. Nothing sweeter than hearing 5000 bison fans crying on their way out of town.
You guys have to admit, it's fun having the NDSU fans around. During game week, they go on their opponent's boards, and trash talk. Then when they get beat, all they can do is talk about how they really knocked the stuffing out of (place team name here) and should have won.
You NDSU fans (lakesbison and JBB) make for great internet entertainment.

You're right. We never did come back....well minus the undefeated 2007 season when we made it to the quarters and the 2008 semifinals....but other than that... .....fucking idiots....

Fixed on this for you but a small thing.
When was the last time NDSU made the quarters or the semi's?

When was the last time UNI won a title. Minnesota Vikings of College Football, can't win the big one.
NDSU is just starting out in the FCS. As all of you know football is up and down, its cyclical. That is unless your school has managed a series of MVFC titles and an early playoff bow-out each and every year they have made it. Thats not withstanding the obscene arrogance of their fans that think they have one of the best football teams in the country. What SIU has is the best of the weakest. What, 5 or 6 MVFC titles in the 2000s and 1 national championship in 1983!! Thats mind boggling. Lennon will be perfect to enhance that record of futility. Is the conference that bad or is SIU just a big choker in the playoffs? I think the Pioneer League has done better. I think SIU is a paper tiger.
The MVFC is ripe for the picking. NDSU is about ready to dominate. I suggest some of you take a realistic and less provincial view with your ideas including the success of the MVFC and the upcoming changes in the structure of D1 football.
NDSU is the #1 program in the MVFC. It has more upside than most in the MVFC. SDSU thinks the same way. They are planning on a 22,0000 seat stadium and are upwardly mobile like NDSU. Most of the rest are more like D2. Its a good place to rent but I dont think I would build a house in this neighborhood. Its good to keep the powder dry and wait for a more prestigious address to become available in the future. In the mean time get ready, its a BIZON UPRISIN.
