Listen, nobody cares about traveling costs, so what you have to goto Hawaii every two years, Im sure nobody wants to do that. Im sure nobody is looking forward to that trip. Btw Idaho is close to MT and they make the same trips. (Im not saying UM is UI or as good ect, just distance [for all u idiots]) So UM would get a direct conf rival with UI, still have a rivalry with MSU no matter what, not to mention they still have one of they best stadiums in the Conf!

1. Expand to 35-45k privately funded if possible
2. Dont get crazy with the ticket prices. Price seats based on demand.
3. Strike a deal with horizon air on charter airfare.

Who or what is "the Mac"? The issue in Grizland is far more complex than you think. I agree with you, but there are unique realities for each school, conference, etc. I give you just today's thread on this same issue:

The Mac is the Mid American Conference. An FBS conference where 12 schools, IDENTICAL to UM, all just about reside within 200 miles of one another. Study the MAC, it kills your theory. Ive got a resolution to every problem... I know this business inside and out.

I can't see one team mentioned that I would look up to as the move to FBS being an upgrade other than Boise St.

I don't get why you would think that we would be inspired by MAC or WAC and I would be interested to see if we would have a better bottom line because of joining the WAC.

As a fan I am way more into the playoffs than the bowls. I watched 0 bowl games last year except for the final one and the TCU/BSU game.

Just for my own personal tastes I can not see how FBS is great unless you are in the BCS. Nobody gives any more of a shit about Temple, Ball State, and so on than they do the top teams in FCS. I would rather see the Griz play at least 5 or 6 great teams on our level than 3 or 4 mediocre, and another 3 good FBS teams every year.

No kidding. "Ground He walks on..." is a bit much IMO. I usually only worship the area that he is standing, but that is just me.

I see what you're getting at, but: The fact that all conference members in the MAC are so geographically close undoubtedly helps minimize travel costs. If Montana went to the WAC, it's travel costs would be even higher than they are in the Big Sky. I.E. trips to Hawaii, New Mexico....etc..etc

Assuming Boise State is gonzo to the MWC, they line up as follows (closest to furthest):

Idaho (250 miles bus ride) vs Montana State (202 miles)
Utah State (455 miles) vs EWU (213 miles)
Nevada (841 miles) vs Idaho State (362 miles)
San Jose St (1092 miles) vs Weber State (450 miles)
Fresno St (1141 miles) vs Portland State (548 miles)
New Mexico St (1344 miles) vs UNC (851 miles)
Louisiana Tech (1988 miles) vs Sacramento St (972 miles)
Hawaii (3277 miles) vs NAU (1036 miles)

Now, I'm not sure whether the Griz currently ride a bus to Weber or Portland (I'm fairly sure they do to MSU, EWU & ISU), but you're right: The new conference would mean only ONE bus trip instead of potentially 4-5.

I believe Montana flies into Ogden then buses to Stewart Stadium, at least I think they do. PSU and EWU are the only other ones that do I think
