Re: Biggest non-conference game on your schedule
I'd say a win at NC State would be pretty big for the Catamounts.
Re: Biggest non-conference game on your schedule
For ODU, our biggest game has to be our first round playoff game against TBD.
After running roughshod through a patsy schedule of perennial homecoming dates Cal-Poly and Waste Management, the Monarchs will receive their first true test in the FCS playoffs. However, since we will be so highly ranked, those games will be at home, giving us a distinct advantage.
Not sure which year in which this will occur, but cannot wait!

Good luck. When we played there 2 years ago they did this Wolf's Roar thing over the loudspeakers---while our QB was calling signals. I thought there was a rule against that. In any case, would be curious to know if they're still doing it.The Cats wrote:I'd say a win at NC State would be pretty big for the Catamounts.

Re: Biggest non-conference game on your schedule
Looking over you schedule for 2010 going to have to go with three FCS teams:
-Northern Arizona: The Lumberjacks come into Cedar City this year and hopefully that will give us the push needed to get over the hump and finally beat NAU. Last two games were very close and since NAU has Herrick and we got a great QB in BYU transfer Brad Sorensen i think it will be a shootout like last year.
-@Texas State: Another big game for us as we need to win as many FCS games as possible to get an at large playoff berth this season. We have had the Bobcats number the past few seasons and hopefully we can keep that going in 2010. It should be a good game because even though TXST has some QB issues they have several very good running backs so our defense has to be ready to stop the run. Its also the game right after our second FBS opponent in San Jose State so lets hope were not to banged up.
-@EWU: Our last game of the season and potentially the biggest. Last season Nichols and Co. ran and threw all over us and it didnt help we had two untimely fumbles that allowed the Eagles to pull ahead. However we are returning alot of veterans on the defensive side of the ball and hopefully that will be enough to beat the Eagles at "The Pad" . I say this is potentially the biggest game of the season because chances are we could be in a position to get an at large berth in the playoffs but we will have to see how the rest of the season pans out.
Overall i am going to say we HAVE to go at least 2-1 out of these three FCS opponents to have a shot at an @ large playoff berth and i think it is very possible to achieve especially since we get NAU @ home and always seem to play amazing vs Texas State.

I'd say that would be HUGE if Western wins that one.The Cats wrote:I'd say a win at NC State would be pretty big for the Catamounts.

For McNeese State it's Cal Poly. Their four nonconference games are Lamar, at Missouri, Cal Poly, and at LSU. If they beat Lamar in its first football game as a resurrected program, that will not count as a Division I win. Obviously, their chances of winning at Missouri or at LSU are small. They really need to get a win against Cal Poly for the contingency of not winning their conference.

Not quite sure. He looked pretty good last year. I think he ended the season with about 250 yards rushing. Problem now is we picked up two more good running backs thanks to the Hofstra debacle. I'm sure Eddie will see playing time this season.if he works Priori will play him.NorthHen wrote:Seawolf -
Any idea where Eddie Mateo is on the depth chart?
Re: Biggest non-conference game on your schedule
Seawolf -
Thanks for the information. Eddie was a solid back in high school against some real good competition. Common belief was that he was headed to JMU. Might get a chance to check him out at Lafayette when the Seawolves visit.

Re: Biggest non-conference game on your schedule
For my Hornets, IMO, the answer to this question rests on the definition of "biggest."
In terms of what is most important to our fans, SD is right in declaring the Manure Pile to be our biggest OOC game. That is our rivalry game and is always tough. They're STILL ticked that we've won two straight, and particularly in the fashion we won last year. The Mattos March will live FOREVER!!!
In terms of impact on the sports world should we win, well, I think another game would be a better fit. That would be our opener at Stanford. While one would normally see this as a Tree blowout, they're usually vulnerable early in the season (for some reason lowly San Jose often has their number). If we're to have any chance at all of a win, the game is perfectly placed for that. This could be a good jumpstart for a successful season should we win or at least play well in a close loss. It would be VERY nice to beat the alma mater of my second favorite NFL QB of all time, Jim Plunkett.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

For the FANS of NDSU, I would have to say the season opener at Kansas is the biggest one.

Western Carolina. The Cats come in wanting revenge for our win in the Whee last fall. Third game of the season, but this game on 9/18 will be the last home game for G-W until 10/23. With a young QB at the helm, a win is crucial against WCU before heading out on the road or we could be limping back into Boiling Springs for homecoming on 10/23 with a 1-5 record.
Re: Biggest non-conference game on your schedule
Big OOC game: KU. For me these are my favorite games.
Morgan State is going to come into a packed Fabulous Fargo Dome. First home game of the year for NDSU and the third game of the year following KU and UNI. If the BISON are 2-0, 1-1 or even 0-2 the home town fans are going to have a reason to party and welcome the HERD back home. That game will be huge.
Just under 7,800 season tickets so far and those are only renewals. Sales arent even open to the new-comers yet.
It's going to be a good deal for the hot team from "back-east"!

Re: Biggest non-conference game on your schedule
Your best OOC game is MORGAN STATE? No offense to the MEAC folks, but really? Man if thats your best FCS non conf game to get excited about, I think the "Fabulous Fargo Dome" will be pretty empty if the team opens 0-2. I had to look them up to make sure I knew what conference they are in, and I like to think that I am much more up on FCS football than your average fan. The only reason it could be big is that its the season opener, but knowing Bison fans, if you are 0-2, you will be so damn down on the team everyone will be pissing and moaning and saying the season is a loss by then.JBB wrote:Big OOC game: KU.
