And neither will the Fargo TV market.
Keep in mind I have UCD in this conference scenario to get the Sac market. The entire point was to make it an elite group of research institutions, since the majority of WAC schools are research institutions.
Fargo's TV market isn't great but NDSU brings the state plus part of MN.
I would want UCD over any school because my bff, cousin, and lots of former students of mine went there.

I agree. My questions is if La Tech leaves, would the current WAC members support this? Obviously if staying afloat is the priority then yes, but geographically speaking will the current member schools want to continue to travel that far east?
Yes! 7 members= not a conference, 8=WAC still a conference. They'd add Alaska-Fairbanks if they had too
So is there a great possibility more schools leave the WAC? Anyone else close to being invited to another conference?

Swap Sac State and ucd. We've beat them in football and basketball (I'm assuming you're referring to men's) for 2 straight years now.

I understand your historic inquiry, but that doesn't represent where the two athletic programs stand at this very moment. And I would think the WAC is more concerned with the here and now rather than the there and then.

no not historic, I just want to know UCDs and Sac St.s fb and bb record the last 5 years. who had the better record. If tied fb wins out since it drives most everything.

Granted the WAC is going to suck big time now that BSU is out, but Sac State can' compete at the FCS level, what makes them think they'll win at the FBS level?

Winning at the FCS level has never been a requirement for move up, although it definitely helps. Don't you have some Denver area malls to cruise?

Um, switch 4 & 5 as Sac has beaten davis in basketball forever and owns two straight against them in football. Don't think TXST has done anything to set the world on fire either.

Until you beat Sac State if we can't compete you don't exist.

This is about as close to the pot calling the kettle black as I've ever seen!
SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
TXST used to be pretty damn good in BB, especially in the Jeff Foster (Pacers) era. Then Nutt took over as coach and they went right to low class HS play. They finally fired Nutt 3 years ago. Enter coach Davalos. It hasn't improved much. (And the women's team is even worse...but just fell hard about 2 yrs ago) The BB coaches make 33k and 27k more than our baseball coach, who has had only 1 losing season (29-30) in 11 years.
It's not lack of talent, it's the lack of how to coach.
On the other hand, we've won 16 SLC titles the past 3 years. Soccer, VBall, Baseball, Softball, Football, WGolf...and a few close seconds. Football and baseball are on the rise.
Sounds like PSU's record, Catmom (though we don't play baseball) - Big Sky wins at golf, volleyball, softball (Pacific Coast), basketball. And our football's on the way up - new coach, and it can't go down any further.

Montana is not going anywhere without Montana State. Tradition is what ties those two together and it is hard to imagine anything separating the two. Both campuses as well as the state politicians in Helena would not want to see Cat-Griz become an FBS vs FCS affair.

If Texas ends up in the Pac 10 and Texas A&M in the SEC(they are trying to pull this off) Anything is possible. Oklahoma and Nebraska won't be in the same conference anymore either.
I think Montana is staying though because they turned down the fee hike and the president is retiring. Now if the new president is all about FBS then it will be revisited.

...I've said this all along...I don't think Montana will make a move without MSU.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. - Coach Finstock
I think the big question now is how many teams do they want to add and how quickly do they want to add them.
Of course a lot will rely on what happens to the Big 12. But assuming the Big 12 falls apart and MWC sucks in Mizzou, KState, and Kansas, that would put MWC at 13. They would probably look at adding either Iowa St or Fresno St, since Baylor won't get in due to TCU.
Baylor would probably swing to CUSA which would take the spot that LA Tech is looking for.
WAC won't want to disappear as a conference and show its members that they are doing everything they can to stay as strong as possible. This would be tough to do by adding a mix of FCS schools. However, the WAC doesn't have much of any other option.
I would think one of the following scenarios is most likely.
Conference goes to 12 and gives strong foothold in Texas with travel partners
Add:
Texas St
UTSA (They will want to hold out for CUSA though)
UNT (Same as UTSA and have rejected WAc before)
random pick of western school
Conference stays west:
Montana
UC-Davis
Sac St
Cal Poly
or other west school
Add who is available
Texas St
Montana
Sac St
UC-Davis
Its just a matter when offers will go out. I think they will wait until more dust has settled from the realignment so they can see all their options. Its not like the FCS schools are hot targets that will get snatched up overnight. But they also have to keep the current members happy. Tough line to walk.
