they've supposedly been instructed not to, but it's an elephant in the room because you have to believe that all of the kids being recruited have seen the news reports.

YSU picked up commitment #13 this weekend from Maple Heights ATH Andre Stubbs. Maple Heights won the Division 2 State Title in Ohio this year and they were led by Cincinnati WR/QB Commit Shaq Washington and YSU ATH Commit Andre Stubbs. In the state title game, they played a team with 9 BCS recruits and he was able to run wild in that contest.

He is only 5'6" 150, but the kid may pose some mismatches with his speed and unique size... Video:

Chose YSU over Kent State, Air Force, Booby Morris, and Duquesne.

Word is that Nova is getting another top recruit

Jordan Canzeri out of Troy, NY

He has an offer from Iowa that he got right after he committed to Villanova. We'll see if he sticks with Nova on signing day.

Kid is a solid recruit, just a little small. 1st team NYS AA (largest division).

Sounds like something Iowa would do. They get a good number of players, in basketball and football, who have committed elsewhere. They then go in with an offer and make all kinds of promises to the kid and bash the living hell out of the school they committed too

According to a quote from that link Nova won't keep him and only landed him through bully techniques.

“Iowa offered last night and UCONN called this morning. It's been a busy two days for me,” said Canzeri. “It's just really awesome to think about playing in a big time league and stuff, but at the same time really stressful. It's all happening at once and right after I was rushed to commit to Villanova.

“They had a deadline for me which was yesterday and they told me they couldn't extend it. Literally a few hours later, Iowa offered.”

He committed out of fear of losing that offer and not getting another one. Other schools knew about that and once the deadline past other schools called.

Not sure if I'd characterize them as "bully techniques" but it sure sounds like there was some pressure from Nova, which is very common from teams at the FCS and lower FBS levels to try and avoid this situation.

YSU is up to 90 offers and 16 commits.
Picked up a CB from Warren G. Harding High School, home to Maurice Clarett, Mario Manningham, Boom Herron, etc.
Picked up a JUCO All-American Safety from Alfred State Community College.

Interesting offer:
YSU offered an OL from Warren G. Harding High School that is 6'5" 363 pounds. Other sites have him at 330. Heard he needed to trim some weight and would have had many major offers.

Youngstown State is up to 20 commitments as of today. Rumor in Youngstown is former WGH LB, who originally committed to Michigan last year, will be attending YSU next season. He was a 3-star LB with offers from Michigan, Michigan State, and West Virginia.

YSU is loading up on the recruits and won't have to fill too many spots come next Wednesday.

Just curious how many commits do all the other FCS schools have right now?
I'd have to say YSU is near, or at, the top with 21 commits with 9 more to go.

Most schools don't have the bare cupboard the guins apparently have. W&M will bring in 12-14 on scholarship, and typically gets about 10-12 walk-ons. So far...

QB Christian Brumbaugh...6'3" 200...South Fayette H.S., PA (Scout 3-star/ offers from Akron, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Duquesne, St. Francis)
LB/RB Luke Rhodes...6'3" 215...Holidaysburg H.S., PA
CB/RB Deandre Houston-Carson...6'1" 175...Massaponax H.S., VA (Offers from JMU and Elon)
WR Anthony Johnson...6'2" 180...Mountain View H.S., VA (Rivals 2-star/ Offer from Richmond)
OL/DL Nick Easter...6'4" 280...Colonial Forge H.S., VA (Offer from Kent St., Penn, Brown)
S/RB/KR Jared Velasquez...6'1" 190...Robinson H.S., VA (ESPN 3-star/ Rivals 2-star/ offers from West Virginia, Richmond, JMU)

Transfer:
RB Keith McBride...6' 210...Memphis University School, TN (Navy) (Rivals 3-star/ had 13 offers last year)

Walk-on:
LB Terrence Mack...6' 205...Hampton H.S., VA (Rivals 2-star)

Two additional targets known to have the Tribe on their short lists are CB Douglas Middleton from Parkland H.S. in N.C., and DE Jasper Coleman from James River H.S. in VA. Both are Rivals 2-stars. Middleton has seven offers, including Ball State, and Coleman has six including Vanderbilt, Marshall and Ohio U.

I think that recruiting size is commonplace for FCS teams.

On the complete opposite spectrum would be Albany's year this year. We only need to replace about 5 graduating schoalrship seniors. We will have a very small recruiting class.

As you know, with a population under a million, the pool to draw from is small.

I know one local kid here in Dover, Trip Thurman, is headed to Florida and another from Dover, Kamal Abrams, is headed to Connecticut. As for upstate, Angelo Blackson from Bear is headed to Auburn, Kyle Carter from New Castle is headed to Penn State, Evan Mulrooney and Brandon Ross from Wilmington are both headed to Maryland, Jake Quinn from Wilmington is headed to Temple, and Jim Custer from Wilmington is headed to Monmouth, the only FCS commit listed. Delaware expressed interest to six of the guys that went FBS. The only other Delaware kid showing on the GoHens radar is John Gasparovic, QB from Middletown.

It's no real secret that Delaware focuses on NJ, VA, PA, MD, and FL for the most part.

Ever play with math?

Population of NJ+PA+MD+VA+FL = 54 million
Population of DE = 900K (or 1.7% of the states above)

Delaware 2010 roster: 105 players
From Delaware: 15 (14.3%)

As you can see, Delaware players are disproportionally represented in the positive on the Hens' roster for their target recruiting areas. Per capita, some pretty good players are produced here. Carry on.

We only lost 14 off a squad of 87. However, we get to add 11 "FBS" scholarships this year, so we're looking @ 25 instead of the 14.

We have 12 verbals (that I know of) so far. Not bad considering we went 7 weeks without a coach.
I'm sure there are more...but I can only identify the 12.
