lol, no.

EWU was a top 5 team most of the year, and won their conference championship. They didn't need that last expanded playoff spot to back into the playoffs.

If you want to argue that EWU's title run was watered down, then the only logical argument that makes that statement true is that EWU benefited from playing weak teams that were not worthy of being in the playoffs in previous years. (like NDSU)

You just slammed NDSU, and you didn't even know it. Dumbass.

As usual, I win. :coffee:

You beat everyone you played dumb ass. They all were part of a watered down field, even EWU. An easy bracket up you say? Your win is diminished not only by your own crowing about lack of competition but the other "complications" as well? I think your trophy should be buried.

In the mean-time, whats important to me, is the record of the FCS wins over the BCS. NDSU has recently won 2 of those games. those are big wins that help define the program, and as this thread shows, the entire division, at least when considering the important programs.
Dear Lord, We come before you and humbly ask you to grant our prayer for a veil of protection to be placed over Donald Trump. May your will be done. In Jesus name we pray. Amen

Again, if you feel like you need to argue that the field was watered down, then you must admit that it was mediocre teams like NDSU that watered it down and lessened the field. :coffee:

Congrats on NDSU's BCS wins. That is exactly 1/3rd of the amount of BCS wins that UNI owns, but I'm sure it is a tremendous achievement for your school. :thumb:

I remember reading the teams considered for the last spot were NDSU, Liberty, Jacksonville, Dayton, and ODU...just to put into perspective the selections you were competing against.

What's your point? Not our fault that your school was too small-time, and was not ready to play with the big boys 30 years ago like UNI was.

So....they had an expansion program, 2 non schollies, and a giant let down of a team from one of the worst scholarship leagues in the FCS to compete with.

Yes, but I'll give 'em credit for actually winning in the playoffs. RMU is meh, but the MSU win was impressive.

Its the trend line thing again. Our trend line for BCS/FBS success is a lot "steeper" than UNIs. NDSU is a hotter program thats all.

So I guess all the major college teams we played before 2006 don't count? I know NDSU lost almost all of those games but all of a sudden they don't count? Hell way back when NDSU played Minnesota when they were national champs.

Here is the NDSU record against current BCS/FBS teams. Most of games occurred in the era before divisions when it was just college football. A few games came during the period of Small and Large College Football. The most success has come since the distinction of divisions in 1974

Let me know if I missed any:

Arkansas State 1-0
Army 0-1
Ball Sate 1-0
Central Michigan 1-0
Eastern Mich 0-0-1
Idaho 0-3
Iowa 0-2
Kansas 1-0
Kansas St 0-1
Mich State 0-2
Minnesota 1-5
Misouri 0-1
Northern Ill 2-0
Northwestern 0-1
San Diego St 0-1
Souther Miss 0-1
Texas Tech 0-0-1
Troy 0-1
Tulsa 0-1
Wisconsin 0-2
Wyoming 0-1

We use NC flags to define our program. Beating up on FBS bottom-feeders isn't all that tough...But, when you HAVE no NC flags, I can see why you'd grasp at some meaningless thing like FBS wins to "define" your program. :coffee:
The year Montana got thrashed by Iowa, Minnesota beat Iowa after blocking a last second field goal to defeat NDSU. But it's not that tough.

I do agree with NC flags measuring a program. :thumb:

RMU beat a great Liberty team, that should count for something.

Wisconsin 0-2
Wyoming 0-1
You're including games that were played in the 40's and 50's? :ohno: :ohno: :ohno:

Since 1990 (all these teams were at 85 schollies when the Griz played them):

1990: Montana 22, Oregon State 15
1991: Lousiana Tech 21, Montana 11
1992: Washington State 25, Montana 13
1992: Kansas State 27, Montana 12
1993: Oregon 35, Montana 30
1995: Washington State 38, Montana 21
1996: Montana 35, Oregon State 14
1997: Wyoming 28, Montana 14
1999: Idaho 33, Montana 30
2000: Montana 45, Idaho 38
2001: Hawaii 30, Montana 12
2001: Montana 33, Idaho 27
2002: Montana 38, Idaho 31
2003: Montana 41, Idaho 28
2005: Oregon 47, Montana 14
2006: Iowa 41, Montana 7

So, that's 6 FBS wins since 1990 (6-10 record), and that doesn't count the 5 wins against BYU, 9 against Boise State, the 6 against Colorado State, the 1 against U of A, the 1 against Abeline Christian, the 1 against Hawaii, the OTHER 23 against Idaho, the 1 against Marshall, the 4 against Nevada, 1 against UNLV, 4 against New Mexico, 1 against Northern Illinois, 1 against Texas Tech, 8 against Utah State, 1 against Washington and 2 against Washington State---all current FBS (or BCS) teams.

Perhaps now you see why it's not a huge deal?

Probably not. :dunce:

Unfortunately I gotta call you out AZ, as a lot of those wins over Boise State and Idaho were when they were in the BSC and FCS.
