Re: Rank the Final Four
If they keep winning that'll be plenty. But you have to look at what the picture was before Saturday. First of all, there was a context in which Southland champions have always exited the playoffs via blowout losses since 2005. McNeese had a team that was about as dominant in the 2007 regular season as Sam Houston was during the 2011 regular season and the Cowboys got blown out at home by Eastern Washington in the first round.USTA game was never in doubt. Full of penalties and oh by the way our starting QB did not play that game. You gave us no shot last week vs MSU either. Ever consider the fact that Stoney Brook was a very solid team? They did take UTEP to overtime. All we have to do is keep winning, may never be enough for some though.
Cant wait to see it play out on Friday. BTW next season we will actually have upperclassmen in the backfield.
Add that to the fact that Sam Houston was not all that impressive in non conference play until Saturday. Yes, they won all their games. But in their two games against teams from other auto bid leagues they beat the last place team in the MVC by 20-6 and had a last minute one TD win over Stony Brook. Maybe they took UTEP to overtime but they also lost to Brown. I don't think anybody thought of them as a national title contender.
Until this past Saturday it was very reasonable to think of Sam Houston State as overrated by virtue of being a top 4 seed.

Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

To update new posts after my last count; here are the points based on a
1st place vote = 4 points

1. Montana (94 points)
2. Georgia Southern (74 points)

Re: Rank the Final Four
These are numbers that don't lie. The cream always rises to the top, and this poll is a shining example of that truth! Thank you so much for taking the time to put this together. Montana vs. GSU would be fantastic (and a clear example of the two best teams playing for the NC). Unfortunately, the bison 18 might have something to say about this...AlwaysAGriz wrote:To update new posts after my last count; here are the points based on a

This is really the first time in forever that I have no idea which teams are better than the others. I could honestly see any one of these four teams win the NC.

except for last week when everyone had Sam Houston at 7 or 8. Funny how some of those same people now rank them 1 or 2.AlwaysAGriz wrote:To update new posts after my last count; here are the points based on a

Re: Rank the Final Four
Funny how Montana hasn't played anyone. If you go through a BSC, MVFC, Southland, or CAA schedule with only one loss you are a quality team who has played plenty of quality opponents.
1) Montana - the most complete team on both sides of the ball
2) NDSU - really good on defense and doesn't make mistakes
3) GSU - really good offense but defense will keep other teams in games
4) SHSU - Still not convinced, but beat the Griz and I will wash down my crow with a cup of shut the hell up.

Thanks. Just happened to hear the same crap last year about how we had no quality wins, coming out of a weak BSC conference with two 9-2 teams who hadn't beat anybody.Vidav wrote:Excellent assessment Mr. Kalm.kalm wrote:Funny how Montana hasn't played anyone. Yeah, when we lost to NDSU because they threw for 389 yards, I too thought it might be a little off.The Kicker wrote:Played around with http://www.nationalsportsrankings.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for the final 4 teams.

Re: Rank the Final Four
Even though there are only two games going on this weekend, it sure as hell is a hard one to pick winners.
All teams that are alive have taken care of business for the most part (SHSU has every step of the way
) and all have taken care of business when it really mattered.
As a Griz fan, I will always pick my Griz to win these types of games, and as a spectator of the game, without bias, I would likely still pick the Griz based off of they way they have rolled in the playoffs thus far.
NDSU/GSU is a dandy... both very good programs, both are playing very good ball. I'd probably flip a coin at this point simply because I'm not going to sit here and act like I've studied both teams' strengths and weaknesses. I would however hope the coin is weighted towards NDSU because that Fabulous fargodome gives a tremendous homefield advantage that no other team in this division would know anything about.

The seeds have already agreed to do a very good opinion of this year. The last 4, I look forward to seeing a great crop. Especially looking forward to next week, NDSU / GSU game. I think the best defense will play the rest of the best that one the rest of the offense.
