So is EWU going to make a run at the BSC title or repeat another 6-5 season?
What a dumbass. Trying to argue with EWU (bad bad bison) fans  Get some sense!

These observations are based on last years overall performance of each team. Past performance is no guarantee of future results.

For informational purposes only. This is not meant to be used as betting advice.
CSU allowed 31.2 pts/game. NDSU averaged 31.3

NDSU gave up 12.7 pts/game CSU averaged 21.4

Advantage scoring: NDSU BISON
CSU allowed 234 yds/game rushing NDSU averaged 173

NDSU gave up 118 CSU rushed for 167 yds/game

Advantage: Could be a wash but NDSU has the potential to break it open on the ground. CSU will have to contend with a tremendous BISON Defense.
The NDSU Backfield has potential to be the best in the nation at the FCS level. O line will be young but not untested. Ojuri will continue to improve and impress. Behind him there is a nice bunch of very promising runners. CSU does have the ability to put up yds on the ground. They can and do overwhelm weaker defenses. This is a good place to excercise your judgment about the statistics. How much adjustment do you make in the comparison for strength of schedule? I adjusted the stats to a wash.
CSU allowed 180 yds/game passing NDSU averaged 172

NDSU gave up 197 CSU passed for 184

Advantage: NDSU. NDSU Defense had 21 INTs on the year. CSU gave up 14. NDSU gave up only 4 INTs.
The passing game appears to be a wash until you look at INTs. It wouldnt suprise me to see both ground games slowed considerably with the passing games picking up the slack. The stage could be set for a wide open match-up. If thats the case the BISON Defensive Backfield will have a chance to pick off some key passes. the BISON D Line will have a chance to put on the big rush and disrupt, forcing mistakes.

A NICE FOOTBALL CHAT ABOUT THE BIG BISON GAME IN FORT COLLINS, CO.

Interested Fan wrote:Most of these clowns dont know what they are talking about JBB. You are sure putting it to them about this game! Good Job JBB!
Thanks Interested Fan, but hey, cut these guys some slack, they only know one thing because they are mostly from the BSC.
Long Time Listener wrote:Hey, JBB, do you think NDSU can roll into Fort Collins and get the win?
I think they can Long Time Listener. They have played well on the road. I havent looked closely at the rosters yet so I would like to reserve my judgment on the game, Im sure you understand, but generally speaking yes, The NDSU BISON can go into Fort Collins and defeat the CSU Rams.
Quiet Guy wrote:Good call JBB! You sure know football. Not like most of these jokers. How many fans will travel do you think?
Hey Quiet Guy, , cut the boys some slack. They are just getting used to the new sheriff in town: The NDSU BISON. :D

When it comes to attendance there is one thing you always have to remember: It starts with you Quiet Guy. Each of us has to make up our mind to go. I think we have a lot of alum out there. Im sure the game is going to be on Television up and down the front range and of course across the entire region. Its going to be a big day for football fans out west, especially some of those fans in the Big Sky! Good chance to see The BISON in action. The BISON did what their #1 team couldn't: STOP THE OPTION! 8-)

Its great to be visiting a charter member of the Mountain West. Great Conference.

Should be a wonderful day, exciting and challenging game at a tremendous football facility. Those are all the things you need for a huge tailgate and a sell-out crowd!
Mary Jane wrote:I really like your view point JBB. Call me some time OK?
Im flattered Mary Jane. Hope to see you at the game. It should be a fun time for all of us. Tickets arent on sale yet, but Ill keep my eye on the situation and give you a call when they are on sale.
JBB wrote:Well, thats about it folks, for now anyway. See you next time and in the mean time keep your eye on the ball!

Bison also had a ton of injuries this year but the back-ups stepped up and played very well. Injuries are part of the game. Look at our starting roster this last year. There is a reason why there were so many sophs and freshman playing this year. Injuries were some of them and they were...good. The Bison also had OL-RB-WR-DL-LB-DB go down this year and miss many games.

EWU was a one-trick pony....NDSU is not even close to that.
Before you come on here beating uour chest - didn't NDSU go 3-8 in 2009, and something like 5-6 or 6-5 the year before? I suppose we should ignore those facts, though, since NDSU won a championship this year. I think you will find it's much harder to stay on top at this level than it is to get there.

As for EWU, yeah, at some point injuries become an issue when you are losing multiple All-America / All-Conference type players for the season and basically your entire offensive line. Yet they still rallied to win 6 of their last 7 games and nearly made the playoffs despite opening the season 0-4, and we also had another national POY award. So while dissapointing, there was something to build upon for next season. So don't worry, that kind of bad luck won't happen again.

PS - We'd probably have had a great record this season, too, had we played the pathetic OOC schedule NDSU did. Why are the Bizzzzzon scared to schedule outside the Patriot/NEC for their OOC games? Couldn't be anything to do with the level of competition, could it?

CSU by 10.
Pathetic OOC shcedule? Georgia Southern was suppose to come to Fargo to play last year and bought it out to play a D2 game. Is that our fault? That would have been St Francis-Minny-G. Southern...not too bad. The same South Dakota team you lost to we beat 38-16 last year.

LOL....I would have liked to see EWU play James Madison-Lehigh-Georgia Southen-SHSU is consecutive games....0-4...period!.......and hold them all to 27 points.....

First of all, you have no idea what we would have done had we made the playoffs this season, so just stop with the conjecture. Furthermore, trying to make comparisons between games that were played last season and games that were played this season is pretty futile, IMO. I.E. - You beat a team last year that we lost to this year.....ok, so what? We beat you last season....we also won a NC last season. Each season is its own......which is the reason I brought up NDSU's abysmal 3-8 record in 2009 (a fact I see you ignored). The next season they made the playoffs....The point is, a lot can happen in one year, so I wouldn't be so quick to annoint the Bison the 2012 champs just yet. It's a very bold statement to come on here and call another program a "won and done" when we haven't even seen what NDSU's record will be like next season.

And yes, you had a very weak OOC schedule when compared to a lot of other schools. St Francis, Lafayette?

Ya, our 3-8 season was one to forget for all Bison fans. I'm a fan of NDSU, of course I'm going to predict a NC every year....isn't that the goal for most teams.

Ya, the Bison could fall on their face and have a horrible year but IMO, that will not happen. Too many starters return for that to happen.

....and did you read my post.....GS , if they hadn't backed out , would have made a pretty good OOC schedule. Our AD had to scramble to find a FCS counter. But we took the hand we were dealt and won our 3 OOC games, including 1A Minnesota. Now our AD is trying to find another home game to finish out our '12 schedule and 4 teams have told him NO, they will not come to Fargo. Montana and Montana State are coming to Fargo in the near future.....pretty good OOC competition.

EWU was a top 5 pick last preseason in every poll and returned a great many starters. You can't prevent the injury bug...or plague in EWU's case. Last year EWU returned this from their NC team...

Starters Returning - 15 (8 offense, 7 defense, plus 1 kicker) Starters Lost - 7 (3 offense, 4 defense, plus 1 punter)
Letterwinners Returning - 52 (23 offfense, 26 defense, 2 kicker, 1 snapper) Letterwinners Lost - 17 (9 offense, 7 defense, 1 punter)
Offensive Starters Lost (3) –Taiwan Jones, RB; Matt Martin, TE; Nikolai Myers, OL.
Defensive Starters Lost (4) – Dante Calcote, DB; Jesse Hoffman, DB; Tyler Jolley, DL; J.C. Sherritt, LB.
Other Letter Winners Lost (10) – Josh Antonson, OL/FB; Will Edge, DB; Ashton
Gant , WR; Jason Harris, TE; Brice Leahy, OL; Clint Moquist, OL; Levi Reynolds, DL; John Roberts, DB; Alante Wright, WR; Cameron Zuber, P.

Anything can happen. I believe by the end of the season they were down to one OL that was a starter at the start of the season....with a Payton Award winning QB...

EWU didnt win squat last season. They lost in South Dakota, a Dakota Big 3 opponent. After that, who cares because it didnt get better. It doesnt matter about injuries or what NDSU did a couple yrs ago with the 3-8 bubbling under season. EWU rarely wins its FBS games. Its a nice program out west somewhere and they even won a championship once.

For the BISON the focus has to be on CSU. Not only will preliminary game plans be drawn up for CSU, they will be drawn up for all regular season opponents before spring practice starts. These plans will be tweaked as the game drawn near. The key now is preparation. Next it will shift to productive and efficient practice sessions, then comes the game and hopefully the victory.

You must have missed the opening post in the thread Lakes:
They play in the Mountain West. Tied for last place in 2011 with UNLV and New Mexico all 1-6.

3-9 overall record with a 63-13 loss to Boise State.

Overall impression: decent passing and rushing attacks can overwhelm a weaker opponent especially on the ground. Weak defense, vulnerable to the run. Turn overs have been a problem.

They beat Northern Colorado 33-14. Good game against Wyoming too, but lost 22-19. Impressive 263 yds on the ground but TOs killed the rams with 3 Ints.
I also believe they are riding a six game losing streak.

My guess is the Rams would be contenders for the FCS National Championship. I dont believe they are considered anything but a darkhorse for the BCS title but definitely would be in the running for the FCS title.

CSU's new coach will not work a miracle in one year. NDSU is a FCS team that can beat FBS teams with the type of offense they run.....power running and play-action passing, along with playing good defense.

The Bison defense has the potential to be even better next year. This will be a definite advantage early in the season while the offense is trying to find its rhythm.

IMO, the Bison win this game.

CSU hasn't had a winning season since 2008 (7-6) winning the New Mexico Bowl over Fresno State...Since then they have won 9 games in 3 seasons all 3-9 records. CSU hasn't lost to a FCS team since at least 2002 (as far back as espn.com goes). NDSU 21 CSU 20.

All things considered Darell they have at least 10 million more in the athletic budget and they dont have teh hockies. Their coaching budget is just under 3 million. They have 85 scholarships and 5,000 more students. They have a stadium that is almost twice the size of the insanely popular Fabulous Fargo Dome and they are playing this one at home.

It looks to me all the advantages go to CSU.
