Yeah a couple weeks ago I questioned some guy about why he was ranking Stony Brook #2 in his poll. I got shouted down for being rude. F those tight wads.93henfan wrote:I can't do AGS either. There's a lot of lower school chest beating over there - the Pastys, the Ivy's, NEC's & Big South's of the world. All the schools that don't matter come playoff time.....

Re: CAA Week 4 Prediction Thread
I had no idea how UD beat W&M 51-21. I just saw 51-21, no one on here really said anything about the game, and I never looked at the box score. I was wondering how the heck did the UD team the 1st 3 weeks (I saw part of the UD/WCU and 1st half of the UD/DSU games) beat the crap out of a W&M team that I watched on NBC Sports only lose @ TU by 3 the week before (and if not for some questionable officiating calls would have won)? And how the heck did they put up 51 on a W&M defense, that unlike their offense, had actually looked pretty decent through their 1st 3 games?
Well today I actually bothered to look at the box score of that game. I see UD scored 3 non offensive TDs
-pick 6
-scoop and score of of a fumble
-90 yd TD return off a blocked FG.
I see Webb for W&M did return a punt for a TD.
I see W&M actually outgained UD 362-359, but was -4 in the turnovers. UD's offense outscored W&M's 30-14.
This is kind of a non sh*t sherlock statement, but if UD gos +4 in the turnovers and gets 3 non offensive TDs they'll probably beat anyone in the CAA (and maybe the country). Conversely, if they get no non offensive TDs and about even in the turnovers, they probably won't beat anyone outside of URI and GST by more than a couple TDs.

Teams that score three non offensive TDs also have three less offensive drives tallied up in their yardage.
Statistics.
Think maybe we make up the three yard difference if you give us three more offensive drives? Pierce and Hurley pretty much had their way against the WM defense, then the benchwarmers were in by late 3rd Q.

Seriously, you can't see in the box score how UD completely dominated both lines of scrimmage. Pierce had 112 yards in 3 quarters - no UD rusher had less than a 5.2 ypc average. UD had 359 yards of offense and you figure that they lost three drives because the defense scored. If they kept that average up and got 3 more offensive possessions, UD would've had around 450 yards of offense. 4 of UD's first 5 offensive possesions resulted in scores. UD steamrolled W&M, there's just no other way to look at it. Whether they can do that to UNH or anyone else is a different matter, but last week wasn't a gimic - UD thumped them good, turnovers or no turnovers.

Ok, point taken- UD thumped W&M. UD got 3 non offensive TDs, which cost them 3 possesions, and W&M got one non offensive TD, which gave UD an extra possesion, so that's a net of minus 2 possessions for UD. So it should read, "If they kept that average up and got 2 more offensive possessions, UD would've had around 420 yards of offense."GannonFan wrote:Seriously, you can't see in the box score how UD completely dominated both lines of scrimmage. UD's reserves got plenty of PT in that game - blowout city.
