Don't need to tiptoe around that one. They are the Philadelphia Eagles of I-AA... but even worse. At least the Eagles played in a SB.

Meh. We had the defense of a 4-year old program. No panic here.
It's just that the defense was compared to the over-achieving offense.

I think one of you is talking about UNH and the other ODU. I give ODU the benefit of the doubt since they're the NKOTB (Andy loves that acronym :D ).

Dude, NODU had zero defense. You guys were matadors without a cape. You gave up 27 points to a pathetic GSU...and 49 points to the one dimensional GSU...that has to be some sort of record.

Heinicke isn't going to be able to save your hineys at the next level unless you guys learn to play defense.

No offense to UNH, but IMO they are a team that consistently overachieves relative to their budget, facilities, and overall program stature. That's because of McDonnell. I agree that they have disappointed with some good teams they had in the Ricky Santos era but at a place like UD I think McDonnell would really build a force to be reckoned with.

Also they have made the playoffs more consistently than UD has in recent history.

What do you mean? We've made the playoffs 2 of the last 8 seasons. That's good, right?

There are Hen fans that think that's more important. Me, I'd rather have three trips to the NC than three more playoff "appearances". :coffee:

Put it this way, would you rather be the Bills or Cowboys of the 1990's? One won three Super Bowls, but one was in four of them. ;)

Big deal. They haven't made it past the quarter finals...EVER. Would GSU settle for that?

And don't give me that "facilities" crap. Nova won the chipper...so did Richmond. Colgate manged to get to the finals.

McD doesn't pay attention to defense...and he does not prepare his teams for the palyoffs where defense rules. No thanks. :tothehand:

It might not excite the fanbase, but he will be a great hire for any school.
And with the bolded comment referenced, this guy will probably not get a look. The athletic director explicitly stated: 'We must reinvigorate our program and reenergize you, our supporters, as we lay the foundation for future success.' Presumably meaning the hire will need to be someone capable of making a bit bigger splash with the intended audience than the head coach at New Haven.

Sounds though like he might be a good hire for Albany when whatshisface retires though.

The Delaware fan base is aging faster than the Greatest Generation. Maybe Ziady should offer free Cialis and topless dancing girls. :flash:

But after getting rid of those seat license fees. :shake: :tap:

Young dancers would cause heart attacks for our older fans and the handrails now interfere with the stretchers getting up and down the aisles.

To be safe, the dancing girls would have to match the age of our fans...and at that age, the top part of the topless dancing girls would resemble a pair of Clackers banging together...especially in the late season colder games.

Tough crowd. I think Delaware was just a bad spot on a 4th down play by the officials (along with ensuing chaos moving the chains and such) from a national championship just two years ago. I watched the Delaware/ODU game on TV this year and the announcers were saying the Blue Hens were devastated by injuries this season.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

The NCAA has just reversed the call after reviewing the tape. UD won the national championship for 2010.
There will be a statement from the NCAA shortly.

Former UD def coord Dave Cohen mentioned today in the local rag calling Delaware his "dream job".

Currently LB coach for Rutgers, was HC at Hofstra when they dropped FB.

I agree, 89Hen. Hen Fans had to go two decades without going back to National Championship, and then KC was able to not only get the Hens back to an N.C., but win it. And yes, KC was able to do what his Predecessor never could with his own players, win a DIAA National Championship game. And yet, his predecessor was able to lead the Hens into the playoffs time and again, to no avail, and KC was able to lead the Hens to 3 National Championship Games in 7 years. Many old time Hen Fans can appreciate that, but some of the younger Hen fans do not have that bigger perspective, and so want to repeat history again, by finding a coach who will win consistently and make the playoffs more often, but fail to do what KC has always been well known for - leading his team to National Championship games 8-)

On December 12, 1775 the Continental Congress created a Battalion of minuteman from the three counties in Delaware. Kent county militia were fans and owners of Game Cocks; Fight'n Blue Hens as they were called. The Fight'n Blue Hens became known far and wide as the very best Fighting Game Cocks around. Thus, the Blue Hen was established.
