I wouldn't count on Bowl payout revenue - especially if Boise leaves. That money should be used for special projects, upgrades (like your Stadium expansion).
Where is the stadium expansion money going to come from? How many more tickets do you think they can sell consistantly? And at what price?
There is a waiting list of 2-3000 right now. I don't know how much they will be able to up the prices but they will push it as far as they can. They have taken the money generated from those new seats each year and put it towards paying off the expansion in short order so there is not a lot of debt left on what is there already. I believe the newest expansion will be paid off in 2012. I'm not on board with a move up but I have a friend that is in the system that says it is pretty much already decided and they are now laying out these doomsday scenario to move the fan base in the direction that is a necessary step. That is why I when they come out with the bullshit about not recruiting out of state due to money problems I started to have the feeling that the process is starting. They may not be outright lying on the two alternatives but they are trying to paint the move up as the only option.
If they are gonna think they can keep charging a premium then I will likely give up my tickets in a few years and just go to the games and tailgate and watch the game in the motor home. There are plenty of people looking for the tickets and next year will mark my 25th year of attending every game in that stadium so I may as well give someone else a turn.

The only schools that can even consider themselves in the running for a move to the FBS are those schools that already have a stadium that seats at least 15,000 and actually draw 15,000. The rest are nothing but pretenders. Its no secret that I would like to see NDSU move up and I have to say I am an advocate of UM moving. What a treat to travel to Washington Griz when they are FBS. I would hope NDSU would be one of their preferred opponents and possibly a future conference associate. They are blazing a trail for the handful of schools willing, and ABLE, to make the move.
Dear Lord, We come before you and humbly ask you to grant our prayer for a veil of protection to be placed over Donald Trump. May your will be done. In Jesus name we pray. Amen

Sure, there may be more people falling for the doomsday "moving down" or not recruiting out of state talent garb.
BTW, in reading what I wrote there, I see it is misleading. What I should have said is that the move up is pretty much the done deal and all that I was informed on as far as that goes.
The rest of the statement is my opinion on what they are doing as far as the doomsday scenarios.
What does a stadium expansion have to do with immediately funding two additional sports? How does a stadium expansion alleviate current fiscal issues? Remember, there were a few options mentioned for the program, all of which included CUTS in some way. Dropping down and/or reducing scholarships to out-of-state students.
What two sports will be added and how will UM stay Title IX compliant?
When UM goes 3-9 (don't even say they'll do better than that, look at all of the teams that have made the jump!) how will higher ticket prices help with declining support? How many FCS teams have gone to the FBS and been insatntly competitive, I bet hardly any have. It is inevetable that they will see a decline in ticket sales after a few losing seasons. The fans will start calling for the coaches head and want someone with FBS experience that is proven, that in turn will cost a pretty penny.
If anyone can actually answer these questions without mentioning a "stadium expansion" it would be much appreciated. The bowl payout revenue isnt going to solve all of the financial concerns of all UM athletics and the higher ticket prices issue was addressed above.

It is absolutely not true that a move up is a done deal. Total BS. All that has occurred is that the athletic department has started to look at alternatives in case the football landscape changes. The UM athletic department has done preliminary analysis for a move up on one or more occasions in the past.

The landscape is changing, we will probably hear about the 1st domino (Big 10) at the end of May. I also think Montana would get a WAC invite if they show interest even if the Big 10 wasn't expanding.

So what if I-A conferences expand, and teams changing I-A conferences? And so what is the WAC asks UM to join. UM isn't waiting around for a I-A conference invitation. The UM AD, who is involved with the early stage analysis, has said that UM is comfortable in I-AA. He's said that multiple times, including in the last week.
The amount of rumors and untrue statements on this subject is just astounding. Almost all of it is coming from posters who want to move up so bad that they're willing to exaggerate everything they hear.

In 5 years, FCS as we know it will cease to exist. He better not get TOO comfortable.

Double talk. Nick Saban when asked about being the next Alabama coach, says I'm the coach of the Miami Dolphins I'm only worried about the Dolphins. Fast forward a couple weeks Alabama hires Nick Saban.
They might stay but it would be hard to turn down a WAC invite. I think the only way they stay is if for some stupid reason the WAC doesn't invite them.

This.
And I think the WAC knows BSU is gone, too, as soon as the moratorium is lifted.

Invite???? Invite???? The Griz don't get invites, they tell others how it is going to be.

How will UM initially afford two additional sports and the facility upgrades for them as well as the additional scholarships?
What tv contract, the one or two regionally televised games you will get a season on top of the locally televised games? Montana has absolutely, positively NO media market to speak of. Who cares outside of the northeast who or what Montana is? Montana gets a lot of praise at the FCS level, but that all stops at the FBS level.

Look how well those big media markets have fared in the Big Sky. What are media markets today anyway? Some of the best coverage for any team at any level is from Will Holden and the Bozeman Chronicle and guess what... it's available online. Not to mention the coverage both teams get from every tv station and newspaper in the state which again is online.
Herky you are never going to get an answer…because they don’t have one. For UM’s sake, I sure hope someone has brought these issues up in whatever meetings/reports/studies done pertaining to the move up.

The MWC doesn't need to wait for the moratorium to be lifted to invite BSU.
So do you montana fans think the move up would hurt when it comes to the number of in-state kids on the team. I think there will be far less of them on the team, because you can't offer partial schollys. How many of you think this will hurt when it comes to fans looking at it as a Montana team?

Yes, I'm sure it will just like it does for Boise State and Nevada. I think 18-20 Montana kids in any roster year could still play in the WAC and do quite well. Wyoming with half the population of Montana has 10 Wyoming kids on their roster.
