Until you beat Sac State if we can't compete you don't exist.
I never said UNC is competing at this level. But Suc State ain't either and you've been FCS a lot longer than we have.

BTW, I'd like that fluke hail-marry you beat us with back.

Now apparently some douchefuck threw UNI out there as a candidate for the WAC. I would like to find that guy and kick him square in the balls for saying something that fucking stupid.

If you ask JBB he would consider us "officially in the discussion" now...

We have now been considered to join the WAC as muh as ndsu.

Looking past just football I can see why moving to the WAC makes sense for some of the schools out West. The "prestige" of the WAC in other sports is higher than it is in the Big Sky or the GWC.

However, for an MVC school to jump for the WAC would be DUMB. The MVC has more national respect in basketball than any other conference outside of the the BCS conferences. The MWC and 10 are the only other conferences that are in the same league as the MVC in terms of basketball. The MWC hasn't been there much as of late, but getting 4 teams in the NCAA's this past season helped them out a lot.

For UNI, SIU, ISUR, or really any of the other MVFC AND MVC members to move conferences I would think it would have to be a "big name" conference, and none of them are looking FCS.

I think the big question now is how many teams do they want to add and how quickly do they want to add them.

Of course a lot will rely on what happens to the Big 12. But assuming the Big 12 falls apart and MWC sucks in Mizzou, KState, and Kansas, that would put MWC at 13. They would probably look at adding either Iowa St or Fresno St, since Baylor won't get in due to TCU.

Baylor would probably swing to CUSA which would take the spot that LA Tech is looking for.

WAC won't want to disappear as a conference and show its members that they are doing everything they can to stay as strong as possible. This would be tough to do by adding a mix of FCS schools. However, the WAC doesn't have much of any other option.

I would think one of the following scenarios is most likely.

Conference goes to 12 and gives strong foothold in Texas with travel partners
Add:
Texas St
UTSA (They will want to hold out for CUSA though)
UNT (Same as UTSA and have rejected WAc before)
random pick of western school

Conference stays west:
Montana
UC-Davis
Sac St
Cal Poly
or other west school

Add who is available
Texas St
Montana
Sac St
UC-Davis

Its just a matter when offers will go out. I think they will wait until more dust has settled from the realignment so they can see all their options. Its not like the FCS schools are hot targets that will get snatched up overnight. But they also have to keep the current members happy. Tough line to walk.
MWC taking the Big 5 seems unlikely from everything I've read.

1. Big 5 merge with the BE fb and start a conf. or 4 minus Baylor
2.Big 5 stay together like BE in 2003 when they were down to 5 fb members and add CUSA schools or Louisville and Cincinnati w/them.
3. Pluck at least 6 schools from the MWC and Memphis(highly unlikely)
4.Join the MWC.

I would've thought that Texas St. would join the big 14

Some rumors..yes just message board rumors but still....are starting to float around that the MVC may end up adding some schools from the A10 and Big East depending what happens with the Big East. One post I've saw is from a guy on PantherNation who is pretty knowledgeable about how things work and what not is the following quote. It deals with Iowa State some too due to the entire discussion of the thread.

IMO, one of the best win-win scenarios for UNI and Iowa State in this whole ordeal (and I don't really foresee it happening) is if ISU/KU/K-State/Mizzou joined the Big East for all sports, and the MVC were to get DePaul and Marquette from the Big East and Dayton/Xavier/SLU/Butler (any 2 combination of the 4) to get to 14 teams. This would add the Chicago and Milwaukee markets. This won't happen, but it would be interesting to see. This would allow the Big East to be more football based, while keeping it's strong basketball tradition. DePaul hasn't been much of a basketball threat since Quentin Richardson left for the NBA, and Marquette has been solid, but not dominant. The MVC would then look like this:
East:
Dayton/Xavier/Butler/SLU (any 2 combination of the 4---if SLU were to join, they would go west, Bradley east)
Indiana State
Evansville
Marquette
DePaul
Illinois State

West:
SIU
Bradley
UNI
Missouri State
Drake
Creighton
Wichita State

Fun to think about. Conf tourney in Chicago, STL, KC rotating

He admits this probably won't happen, but it would be fun to see. I've also saw a couple other blogs were the MVC picks up some of the A10 schools, but not the Big East schools

Possible new WAC teams when the dust clears:

Iowa State, if they can't find another home and nobody appears to want them right now. It may be a choice of the WAC, the MAC, or going independent.

North Texas. They could just follow the Texas wagon train west. You know that train. It is the one carrying all of UT's groupies.

UTEP, especially if C-USA goes through some changes.

Baylor, who may have trouble finding another home.

Now for FCS teams:

Montana, UC Davis, Cal Poly, Texas State.

I could see 2 divisions: Hawaii, Idaho, Utah State, Nevada, SJSU, Fresno State
New Mexico State, North Texas, Texas State-San Marcos, La Tech, and two other Texas schools.

So who else has SacSt beaten? 52-104 in 14 years in the weakened BSC and 0-14 against Montana. The WAC has to be savoring over this opportunity.... Maybe it's SacSt Bball that would be the attraction....

Uh, Kemajic, have you already forgotten that Sac State is ALREADY a member of the WAC and has been for several years now? In fact, Sac State is a WAC powerhouse in one sport as it is.

Clenz, that conf. posted won't happen, the A10 School, not schools that is considering the MVC is St.Louis. They SHOULD join. Majarus was bitching about the travel in the A10. The BE schools no matter how sucky would never take a pay cut and less tv to join the MVC. Dayton, Xavier, St.Louis are hoping the BE splits so they can get the invite. Richmond, Duquesne, UMass could also be targets for the split BE if they go to 12.

The MVC should have invited Butler yesterday.

Again, winning isn't a prerequisite for a move to FBS. If that were the case nowhere near as many schools who have moved up in the past would have. Hell there are even a few teams who don't even field a team right now being considered as a possible FBS candidate for the WAC.

I'm not saying I think those schools will jump for the MVC, but it would be nice to get some movement in the MVC for all sports except football.

I would love to see the MVC drop Evansville and maybe even Drake. Ideally I would love to see this for a 12 team league, and we could East/West with divisions

East:
Bradley
Butler
Illinois State
Indiana State
Southern Illinois
Xavier

West
Creighton
Drake
Missouri State
Northern Iowa
St. Louis
Wichita State

Again, it will never happen because the BE schools won't leave the BCS money sharing, and the A10 wants in on it. However, with that MVC conference in basketball there are 5-7 teams who are NCAA contenders every single year.
