If it's a low number, I hope ESPN can do a good job of keeping the camera on the field at all times...

The EWU/Nova game looked decent on TV all things considered---IMO.

The best FCS/ESPN game ever IMO was Appy/Montana in the snow two yrs ago.

Why would the camera angle be a concern? Image? Surely not. I thought you guys didn't care about what the rest of the country thought about the attendance of FCS games. After all, this IS the DIVISION ONE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP! If it breaks 12,000 I'll be stunned.

So, where is the geographic center of the CAA?
Well, up to 2009, with Hofstra & NE, before ODU and GST, according to Yahoo Maps, Williamsburg to Orono = 832 miles, so closest to halfway was Hofstra. This past season, it would have been between Nova (about 1/3 of the way up) and UMass (about 1/3 of the way down).

Now for 2012 and on, according to Yahoo Maps, Atlanta to Orono = 1338 miles, so halfway would be about 670 miles.
Route takes you on I81 from southwest VA to Allentown, PA. On I81 665 miles from Atlanta is Chambersburg, PA, which is almost exactly halfway. Nearest CAA schools to Chambersburg:
Harrisonburg: 133 miles
Newark, DE: 161 miles
Towson: 169 miles

So Harrisonburg and JMU is closest to the new geographic center of the CAA. With what will be the largest (25K) stadium, the new crown jewel of FCS. So yeah, JMU should host. ;)

Now, all they have to do is put together the best bid (monetary and facilities) to beat out the other bidders. It is more than just being closer to all the FCS teams.

Or 15,774 for the non-App State years
Or 14,479 for non-ASU/GSU years

At least top the 14,281 that watched Delaware-Colgate in 2003.
Depends on where you're getting your #s from. I know the NCAA handbook incorrectly listed the attendance for JMU-Montana in 04' as 15 thousand something. JMU and Montana both list it as 16,771.

2k EWU fans + 3.5k UD fans + 7k fans who couldn’t get a hold of Cotton Bowl tickets but didn’t want to feel left out so they bought tickets to this game. 12.5k is my guess.

For anyone worried about what the FCS championship game will look like on TV, turn on ESPN and take a look at the Advocare Independence Bowl on right now between Georgia Tech and Air Force. It's a close game, 14-7. I have no idea what the official box score will say, but there is next to nobody there. By any reasonable estimate, there's less than 10K there. I guess that's big time football for you.

Its weird waiting for the championship to happen.

I'll say 13,000 but hope for a lot more.

I've been in Dallas the last few days and haven't heard a single mention of the game. Of course that doesn't mean shit because there has been zero talk of the Cotton Bowl as well.

I always have a good chuckle with the "it should be in Chatty, it should be in Florida, It should be in a town with other things to do" crowd. You may not realize it because you've not experienced it yet or maybe your school just sucks major dick on it when you were there.

You are there for 3 or 4 days tops. I've been to five or six of these events. There is no time for any other shit unless you give up something to do with the game experience. There are parties going on and other events related to the game and the fans and I've never had a spare minute that wasn't used to rest for the next event.

You're little Disney World dream is still out there. You can go do that on your own. It's not the game experience that all fans are looking for so go do that shit outside of this event.

State Line knows his shit. Frisco paid the loot to keep this thing afloat so go wish in that hand that is shit free.

Nobody that actually cares about this game gives a flying fuck what you want available for your god damn kids or your wife. :thumb:

have family living in Irving, Highland Village and Frisco, so far they're unaware of any FCS Championship promotions. then again they each said for them, it's more about the Cotton Bowl.  :x

EW averaged 6,632 per game, which I'm sure many were students. IF 1/4 of those (1658) people make the 1800 mile one way trip and if Delaware can entice 5,000 fans to make the 1500 mile one way trip, over 10,000 locals still need to show up to hit the low end of your prediction. Don't count on it happening.

Todays Spokesman Review had an article on the upcoming game and reported that EWU has sold 1300 tickets and that a total of 10,000 tickets have been sold so far. Not sure if this includes allotments to the schools for faculty, coaches, and players, or any packages the stadium might be offering locally.

I'd link to it, but SR.com requires a subscription.
