SDSU-USD Game Finally Set For 2012

Guys like slostang remind me of and are lumped together with PL the fat ass and the fat big mouthed cowboy. All Joke, No win.

I really like the suggestion that UND join up with some of the Montana schools and get something going like NDSU, SDSU and USD have in the Dakota Territories. The Big 3 is an idea worth copying. It would be nice to see you guys doing something positive for the game.

There will always be winners and losers, its cyclical. Right now the Big 3 are a competitive bunch which is really a bonus for the fans here in Dakota.

USD was still playing the Jr. Bowl and traveling all over this once great country of ours in search of games. Now USD has been admitted into the group and are part of the loop containing all the Big 3 Dakota Schools. Its a huge break for USD and they should be thankful and ready to compete.

You can play anybody you want but the only games that matter when it comes to the College Football Championship of the Dakota Territories are the games between NDSU, SDSU and USD.

Up to now its been an exclusive show "The Border Marker". Its been the largest sporting event in the history of the Dakotas. It captured the imagination of the Dakota Territory. NDSU is the current Dakota Territory Champion unseating a nice run by SDSU in 2010.

USD and UND played the Jr. Bowl. Usually held in the afternoon on the day of the Big Marker Game, except for 2 years ago when UND hosted University of Sioux Falls. It was a nice lead-in for the Main Event, The Dakota Football Championship, between the Elite and Mighty Land Grants. The Jr. Bowl was never more than the early game.

Now USD is in the same conferences as the Mighty Land Grants. We are all competing for the same prize. Its the remanent of the old NCC. The Big 3 are actually playing for the same stakes accross the board that we played for in the old days. At that time it was considered elite. No outsider not playing in the conference was allowed to share the glory and they shouldnt today. The old NCC lives in the spirit of the BIG 3: NDSU, SDSU and USD.

"It's been the largest sporting event in the history of the Dakotas." ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? I know for a FACT that the Nickel Trophy games were WAY bigger than any "Dakota marker" trophy. It is sad if you have forgotten that. The nickel trophy is a key part to NDSU and UND's history. I'm sure SDSU & USD would agree that their rivalry was MUCH bigger than our little dakota marker rivalry is. It was a nice addition to spark a dull rivalry between SDSU & NDSU, and it has filled in the void left by the Nickel Trophy game. I'm glad to see SD finally realizing they need that rivalry back. Hopefully ND follows

Get in the game. The NCC was elite. You dont reunite 3 key Dakota NCC members without some recognition they are once again in an elite group. For these Big 3 Programs its just like it was in the old NCC days: Conference titles, home playoff games, national championships and a claim to fame as the best team in the Dakotas were all in play in the old NCC and are now in play again with the Big 3: NDSU, SDSU and USD.

The tradition is there with the Big 3. It was there for the Mighty Land Grants. It was the Mighty Land Grants that held the tradition of the Old NCC together and thats part of the Mystic of the Border Marker. Location. Their closest conference games are the montana's. In the MVFC, they would have 4 teams closer than Bozeman... To me it makes sense. I also think the Big Sky schools will be sick of having to go to Grand Forks for a conference game. It's so far out of the way for ALL of the BSC. Do I think it will happen? Probably not, but it should... It just makes more sense.
