The NDSU win was obviously the biggest win in EWU history. Thats a lock. But Its no lock that MS is going to beat MS. Minot State comes out of the NAIA.

Ask anyone from UND. Those NAIA teams are good and loaded with scholarship players. The UND fans said Sioux Falls University was as good as a lot of the FCS teams in the region. Im not sure how they would judge that even today, they have only won 3 or 4 fcs games since moving up but they took no shame in their loss. Montana State shouldn't either if Minot State should win. So hold your head high. If you are big enough to schedule Minot State you are big enough to lose with honor and sportsmanship.

NDSU is not following the model of arrogant and shelfish scheduling of lower division teams. Those exhibitions dont count and shouldnt be included in the won loss record. They dont help a school get into the playoffs. By promoting our own division, and not selfishly scheduling an exhibition game for the gate money, NDSU builds relationships with other peer institutions, gets media coverage and attention in new markets, improves their playoff chances by not throwing away a game and respects its conference by recognizing they cant afford to throw away a game because the MVFC is too competitive for that.

Scheduling within the division not only favors the schools that do it, it keeps the money in the FCS and encourages intra-divisional play, not inter-divisional. As a result our division is enriched and positively promoted to a wider public.

I asked somebody from UND, JaBBer, and he said NDSU is a great place to go if you want to operate a large farm. He also said if you want to own a large farm, go to UND. 8-)

Ummm.....I am pretty sure that the biggest win might be winning the Chipper. Prety sure.

You must have run into the UND fan at an NAIA or D2 game? I know they schedule a lot of the lower division teams. NDSU happens to be the largest land holding university in the USA with over 19,000 acres. Thats a lot of farm to own.

I dont agree that the chipper or whatever was the biggest win for EWU. The win they brag about the most, and apparently take the most pride in, was the "win", if you can call it that, against NDSU. I can understand how proud they are of getting that game handed to them on a silver platter.

im just glad NDSU is scheduling properly. No lower division exhibition games for us. NDSU is leveraging its scheduling to include all FCS/FBS squads. Playing intra-divisional games rather than inter-divisional games helps the division. It promotes the division, keeps the money flowing among division members, establishes meaningful associations with other peer institutions in our division, maximizes playoff potentials for both schools and demonstrates a respect for the division.

The Lafayette game is going to be a first time challenge for both schools. Its a game that will have a lot of national interest. Lots of important FCS eyes will be on the game not only to gauge the power of the NDSU BISON but also to see if the Leopards are back on track and can resume their winning ways. Its a game to look forward to, unlike a 10%er, ie. Minot State.

It doesn't matter if you agree or not, because 1) you're an ndsu fan, and 2) you're a retard.

Hell, UNDS isn't even top 2. Biggest win for EWU is obviously UD, coming back from 19-0 in a little over a quarter to win our first ever National Championship. Second biggest was beating the defending National Champs on ESPN2. I can understand how you wish UNDS was the biggest win for EWU... you want to ride the coattails of our success. Unfortunately for you, the only reason we bring that game up so much is because you're so bitter about it and we love to rub into your little retard face. :thumb:

Actually when I think about it, UNDS isn't even in the top 5 or 6. Beating #1 SIU with Brandon Jacobs in 2004, Montana last year, #2 and undefeated McNeese State in 2007 are all much bigger wins for EWU. Now if you want to list top 5 most entertaining games, UNDS might make the list. Back to back KOR TDs, a blizzard, "The Drive," OT... all make for a pretty entertaining game. :thumb:

Disappointing game for SIU fans, but one of the most exciting I've seen anywhere. Jacobs and Meyer were way deep in the zone that game.

One of the surprises of the game to Bison fans, I'll bet, was the way EWU punched them in the mouth in a bad-weather game; that should have hurt them a lot more than the plodding Bison who are perfectly made for lousy weather.

The biggest surprise was of course Bill Fette. Without him EWU loses at home. With him they were advanced in the tournament without a clean win. There is no question about that. Its a big deal when you are given the win over the BISON. Its even bigger when you actually earn it. Ask some proud MVFC fans. Dont ask Kansas fans or Minnesota fans though. Skip Central Michigan and Ball State fans too. I would also skip Montana fans.

Of course, maintaining proper scheduling is a big part of being a football force in this once great country of ours. Maintaining relationships, maximizing playoff potential, respecting the divisions autonomy from lower division games, respecting your league and promoting FCS ball and keeping the money in the division are big things with NDSU.

Exhibition games weaken the division and are in some cases deceiving. A team like UND that has nearly half their schedule exhibition this season will certainly brag about their much improved record over last season if they have cobbled together anything resembling a football team. They will never tell you about the D2/NAIA/D3 games. We are seeing that in this thread too from the MSU fans that are trying to claim MSU is D2. Thats why the games should not be included in the won/loss record of the FCS team. They dont mean anything and are simply used to feather the nest.

All of you could learn a lesson from NDSU and Lafayette for that matter. These are schools advancing the game in the FCS and scheduling into the spirit of the division. Its a shame not all schools do that.

Without the blizzard in the second half taking away our passing game and the 4 subsequent fumbles/turnovers, we would have destroyed UNDS by 3 scores at least. :coffee:

Bottom line is that Mother Nature put them right in the driver's seat but they couldn't stop a quicker, more athletic team in bad weather. I guess you can't beat the stuffing out of what you can't catch. :geek:

Personally I think the Bison were a little star-struck and wide-eyed with wonder at having backed into the Big Dance with four conference losses, and in their hearts knew that they were still a little green.

Bingo. You give up four TOs in one half and still win, your opponent was way over-matched. :coffee:

Excuse after excuse after excuse. The Blizzard? Right
Image

You have more excuses than anybody Ive met! 8-)

It was Bill Fette.

The importance of scheduling intra-divisional, not inter-divisional, cannot be overstated. :thumb:

Observe the scheduling of NDSU. They seek out the FCS/FBS opponent. They schedule good games. Lafayette hit a snag last year but they are a traditional power. They have shown the ability to compete year-in and year-out. This is a full counter game, not an exhibition that shouldnt be included in the won/loss record. This game is bone-e-fide.

EWU played their second worst game of the year, and still beat the mighty University of North Dakota State buffaloes by a TD. That is fact. Another fact: Taiwan Jones played just over one half of football, and racked up 230 yards against the vaunted prairie cow defense. :thumb: EWU beat the stuffing out of the shit-covered quadrapeds.

THE Eastern Washington University is the benchmark to which standards are set in regards to premier D-I scheduling. They seek out the FCS/FBS opponent. They schedule good games, not weak schools like Laffytaffy and St. Frannypanties. Take notice:

True that. We tried to get the mighty UNDS prairie cows on the slate, but they refused for some reason, so we had to settle for Montana. Oh well. :|

 Another excuse, and an excuse for winning none-the-less!

How many excuses do you guys have? It was Bill Fette.

Some people are catching on to the point, the fine distinction, of intra rather than inter-divisional play. Thats good. Other schools need to learn and better themselves.

NDSU and Lafayette have certainly read the memo. Its about our division. D1, not fast scores on a cheap gate that doesnt count. Its about our division. Lets get behind the idea that exhibition games are fine if they are not included in the won/loss record of the FCS team. What do you say fellas? :thumb:

Gotcha.
