Yeah, if JMU doesn't beat UMass, or beats UMass but gets screwed by not getting a bid, I'm jumping on the Towson bandwagon as well.

Being CAA fans, do you guys really need to tell us that you'll be sniffing the jock/licking the balls of whatever team from the conference makes it the farthest, like you were somehow fans of them all along? :coffee:

I've always been a Townsend fan, which is why I finally decided to move to Maryland.

I agree, there were ODU fans, YES ODU FANS!!!!! rooting for VCU during the NCAA Tournament to go all the way....I was like "WTF?! The true ODU fans wouldn't be rooting for their most hated rival." :ohno:  Anyway, I guess what I'm saying is that I won't be rooting for other CAA teams in the FCS playoffs but I certainly won't be rooting against them either.

Another thing that could help a 7-4 JMU is the JMU AD Jeff Bourne is on the selection committee. He won't get to vote on JMU, but he'll have the other committee member's ear the whole weekend.

Now stadium size & $ isn't suppose to play a factor in who gets in, I don't believe for a minute that the #3 attendance I-AA with a 62 million expansion, top stadium in I-AA, with their AD on the selection committee, no less, won't have an influence. These committee people don't operate in a bubble.

JMU sold out 4 of 5 games at over 25k, only didn't sell out Maine. Yes, even sold out URI, a non HC, non Parents' weekend game after having lost 3 of 4.

YSU AD Ron Strollo is on the committee too.

YSU has been snubbed at 8-3 in the 16-playoff days three times when our attendance was top ten in the nation. One may think money talks, but three times it did not talk in the case of YSU.

As far as I understand, season attendance doesn't mean squat. What matters, is the initial bid each school puts in for the game. I believe they match up all the teams and then the ones that aren't seeded have their bids opened. Whoever had the higher bid, wins the right to host. With your AD being on the committee, he most certainly should know how much JMU would have to bid to get a home game.

I could be wrong, but have not read anywhere else exactly how the awarding process works other than forum board discussion.

Remeber, Div II DOESN'T COUNT.
In 96' a 7-3 YSU didn't get in a 16 team field. Played a Div II
In 01' a 6-3 YSU didn't get in a 16 team field. Played 2 Div II.
in 05' a 7-3 YSU didn't get in a 16 team field. Played a Div II.

A 8 Div I win YSU has never gotten snubbed.

Officially $ might not matter in the discussions as far as who gets in, but I think you're kidding yourself if you think it has ZERO influence as far as who gets in.

-2006: We made the playoffs at 9-2, not sure where you have us as an 8-3 team?

And remember 8-3 teams, even with a D2 on their schedule, made it in the 16-team playoff days. We in Youngstown have every right to be upset about two of those three snubbing's as most in the FCS nation agreed we got hosed... 2005 was one year that many were stunned, but I digress.

Fixed it. Was 96', 01', and 05'. Typed in 06' instead of 01' by mistake.

Yeah, I'm very well aware YSU was in the playoffs in 06'. I was there for the JMU @ YSU 1st round game...

I agree YSU got snubbed in 05' when they took 2 Patriot teams.

The bottom line is it was rare for a 8 Div I win team from the power conferences to get snubbed...

I think it will be rare for a 7 Div I win from the 4 power conferences (CAA, So-Con, MVFC, Big Sky) to get snubbed in a 20 team field. Last yr six 7 Div I win teams from those 4 conferences got in, zero got snubbed. This yr looks like will be anywhere from three-six 7 Div I win teams from those 4 conferences, and might have 1-2 not get in..

Updated NoBowls has JMU hosting Norfolk State with winner @ #1 Montana State.

It has Ill State in but UNI also a #5 seed, which would mean Ill State loses to UNI but still gets in. No way that happens.
Has Wofford & Indiana State in but not YSU or UCA.

As far as the MVFC, YSU would be in before Ill State (if YSU wins this Sat and Ill State loses as expected).

After looking at the criteria, I'm convinced we're getting ODU/ASU in the second round as long as we win this weekend. Out of the potential unseeded second-round teams, it's the only potential bus ride for both.

God, according to nobowls.com can you imagine the chaos that would ensue of Cats/Griz played in the 2nd round.. I think the world would come to a screeching halt.

Heads would explode....but what would happen if they met in the NC. That would definitely cause the world stop spinning.
