Ryan:

That setup evokes images of another conference. We should probably avoid that. They might sue for copyright infringement or something.

:ohno:

With any sort of E-W scenario, there's going to be a state split down the middle. For me, doing that in UT makes no sense. SUU has NOTHING in common with the western teams. I would prefer the split to occur in ID. One ID team is relatively close to EWU, while the other is relatively close to Weber. I think scheduling (and travel) would be a bit easier doing it like that.

Of course, this is all contingent on Idaho. There's no guarantee that they'll drop down. They may just decide to say "screw it" and drop football altogether and hang out in the crazy Sun Belt, which would benefit NO ONE.

But, here is my reasoning, Would the University of Montana be ok with EWU AND Idaho both not in Montana's division, they are gonna put at least one of those schools in the same division as Montana, and since Idaho and UM have history, Im sure it will be Idaho.

I guess you could kick Weber and ISU out and put Portland State and EWU in thier spots and make a northern/southern division, kinda like what WeberAlum02 put forth.

OK. As long as we're speculating here, how about a scenario designed to p!$$ EVERYONE off?

Big Sky National

Sac
CP
PSU
ID
UM
Weber
UNC

Big Sky American

UCD
NAU
EWU
ISU
MSU
SUU
UND

Play six in own division, two in the other, 3 OOC (or 3 in the other and 3 OOC in 12-game years). Consider subdividing into National East (3 teams) and West (4 teams), and the same for American East and West.

The problem with showing the football only members is that the divisions then need to be reshuffled for the other sports. The point in having divisions in the first place is to minimize travel for the Oly sports. The break should be along geographical lines in order to maximize the reduction in travel expenditures. Obviously there are some outliers that knock this whole concept out of whack, and the break in divisions will be somewhere in that UT/ID jumble.

You do realize, I hope, that that was intended to be highly facetious, right, SD?

No. That ship has sailed from you a very long time ago. With all the other crazy stuff/ideas you post, one can never really tell when you are joking or being serious.

The BSC is their only good option at this point.

I would love to see this happen. I loved hating them in the 90s.

If they join or not, both will probably have issues getting home games if they stay Indy when the WAC dies after this season. BSC teams will probably be the only people UI can get at home, and even that will cost them money unless they are willing to do some home and homes. Fullerton is more than likely jumping for joy about this news.

I say add Idaho & NMSU and jettison UND to the MFVC where they belong (geographically speaking). NMSU would be a great addition from a baskeball standpoint. :thumb:

Question - which was the last team to actually drop down? has anyone gone from 1-A to 1-AA sine the 70's when the divisions were created? I only know of teams moving up or dropping football altogether...

Winstom-Salem did several years ago. They went from 0-11 type records, to the DII semi-finals last year
