This. It's not like the guy he's been competing with on his own team has been tearing it up, either. Hard to tell if Dal is being serious most of the time.

True on all counts, but consider this.

What would it take for you to be comfortable with your coach replacing your junior starting QB (who is 31-5 as a starter with a championship win from just last year) with a redshirt fresman?

Wentz may very well be a more talented passer than Jensen, but is he a better leader? Wentz has great measureables @ 6'5" 220# and I feel he has a stronger arm than Jensen, but you don't make that move...you just don't.

Wentz is the backup next year unless Brock gets hurt.

Rematches used to be commonplace in the I-AA/FCS Championship, but this is the first time we've seen one since the back-to-back Montana/Marshall contests in 1995-96. This one features two heavy running teams facing off against two of the top-three run defenses in the nation (SHSU is 2nd.; NDSU fell from 1st. to 3rd. after playing two option teams in a row), so points won't be easy to come by. The Bearkats showed they could be vulnerable in 1-on-1 pass defense situations in the semis, so the Bison are gonna have to take advantage if they want to repeat. Unfortunately for North Dakota State, though, recent games suggest that won't be easy for them. Here are Brock Jensen's passing stats…
  • First 5 games - 84/121 (69%), 1041 yards, 8 TDs, 0 INTs, 163.5 eff. rating, 3 sacks allwd.
    Last 9 games - 114/201 (57%), 1175 yards, 9 TDs. 8 INTs, 112.6 eff. rating, 20 sacks allwd.
As you can see, he hasn't been very good at all throwing the ball since mid-October. Jensen also doesn't have a Brandon Kaufman, either, so his team likely isn't capable of doing what Eastern Washington did. The defense will have to totally shut down their opponent yet again if the Bison want to win this.

This is the fifth title-game rematch all-time. In the previous four, the winning team was the one that lost the prior matchup. With NDSU's recent passing woes, I don't see the trend getting bucked here.

Here's my assessment of the matchups & my pick for the game:

      • Quarterbacks -- Sam Houston St.

Running Backs - Sam Houston St.

        Receivers/TEs - Sam Houston St.

Offensive Line - Sam Houston St.

Defensive Line - North Dakota St.

        Linebackers --- North Dakota St.

        Secondary ---- (push)

        Kicking ------ Sam Houston St.

        Punting ------ Sam Houston St.

Return Teams - North Dakota St.

        Kickoffs ------ (push)

        • Sam Houston St. 17-10 North Dakota St.

Interesting assessment.

After game #5 our top 2 WRs were hurt for a lot of the year. Having them healthy for this game will definitely help the Bison passing game.

Defense wins championships and that will be the case tomorrow.

Bison win 28-13

SAM throws more than GSU and Wofford, which brings Marcus Williams into the equation. SAM gets the 17 points and the first score, but the Bison D accounts for 14 and the offense 17. Bison 31, SAM 17.

Okay I have not read this whole thread but I will say this it sure will be a great game. I am glad that the game is settled on the field not in the polls. Both teams worked very hard to get to this game and we should all be proud of them.

With that being said I hope for no major injuries and a Bison victory for my birthday present would be great. I predict a low scoring game.

I get to work tomorrow with a happy hour after, and Vikings vs Packers looming. Hopefully I can record the game and not find out the results until I have a chance to watch it.

I agree with this assessment. I don't think NDSU's offense is good enough to keep up with SHSU's. NDSU has a great defense, but I don't think they will be able to shut down SHSU like they did last season. There is also the pride factor for SHSU, having lost this game last season. I see a narrow SHSU victory in this one.

Jenses throws a horribe ball. Good thing NDSU isn't relying on their passing game to win this one.

The QB for the Bearkats is extremely lucky he could limp off the field instead of being carried off!!!
