Holy cow, I think these guys were drunk when they voted.... San Diego ranked above Dayton? Fordham ranked above Dayton.... Huh? Dayton finished 11-1, and won the Gridiron Classic big time. Fordham lost four games, including a game to Bucknell....

Completely worthless poll. A joke! Frankly, I would be embarassed to have my name tied to this travesty!

Again, you have to remember, Dayton had a pair of Div.2 games, which doesn't help their cause in an already weak conference. Fordham lost four, so that's one suspicious, but San Diego only had 2 losses with 1 Div. 2 game. As bad as Fordham's loss to Bucknell might be, you had a win over Butler, who's only wins of the season came against 4 Div2 or below teams. 0-7 in the conference. Pretty bad. Rankings this time of year are nothing to get worked up about, all that matter is who won the NC. If you want playoff games and national respect, schedule better, and play the hand you're dealt when it comes to your conference.

Duh, Dayton rolled all over San Diego this year.... I guess head to head competition simply does not matter anymore.... Dayton should be ranked in the top 15 of FCS this year! Not even being top 25 is a joke! Yale, please.... Explain to me who they played....

If the polls do not matter, why do they conduct them? OF COURSE THEY MATTER!!!! This is a new poll, and if it wants any respect whatsoever, the voters should really sober up before they vote next season!!

Yale played an all D-1 schedule with one loss. If Dayton wants respect then they need to play a tougher OOC schedule to make up for a very weak conference. Top 15 is a lot of a stretch.. top 25 I can see.. because you can't say with a straight face that Dayton is better than any of the teams in the top 15. Those teams would roll any Pioneer league team without thinking twice. San Diego was undefeated at playoff time last season, and didn't get a sniff at the playoffs.. then when they went on to play a real team, they were beaten badly by Cal-Davis, who had an okay season. But San Diego is ahead of you... but not enough to really matter. Yale's not even ranked that high. The only team I'd really question in the top 25 is Grambling.. kind of an odd team to have in there.

I never said the polls don't matter, I said this poll doesn't really matter because the season is over, and the champion was decided on the field.. the rest of it is history.

I think the poll is close, but I'm not sure ranking the top 16 in the order they were eliminated is necessarily a good thing.. especially since NDSU is probably better than most of the teams ahead of them.

Same old lame arguments. Dayton is a top 15 FCS team, and few if any of those teams would have rolled over the 2007 Flyers. Big deal, Yale played a ten game, all FCS schedule. The Ivy League plays with themselves. No way to compare them to any other conferences. Dayton defeated the PL champion, on the PL champions home field. You have no freakin idea how good the 2007 Flyers were because you buy in to the typical Old Guard arguments that the PFL is no good. Maybe you should actually attend a PFL game sometime, expecially a game involving a top team. You speak out of COMPLETE bias and ignorance, like most FCS fans. No better than the 70+% of fans at AGS that predicted that Dayton would lose to Albany.

If Dayton wants respect and in the top 15, they need to play someone first. You think you guys should be ranked in front of YSU? You play a dismal schedule when compared to YSU's. And secondly, gain some respect by playing YSU. Fans are at their wits ends with playing D2 Teams. Next year we got Central St. outta Columbus!!!!
WTF. CSU?

Call for AD Ron Strollo pronto!

Wait, beating Patriot-champ Fordham doesn't count as "someone"? And yes, the Flyers schedule was noticeably worse than Youngstown's, but schedule-strength isn't everything like some fans seem to think it is. It's how you do against that schedule. Dayton went 10-1 in the regular season, YSU went 7-4. Dayton went 1-0 against playoff teams, YSU went 0-2. Dayton also crushed Albany by the same margin #3-seed Montana did.

I don't actually believe Dayton was a top-15 team nor do I believe they should have made the playoffs, but I do think they were better than Youngstown State in 2007 & they should be in the top-25.

The fact that San Diego received more votes than Dayton in this poll is also ridiculous.
