that Bobby Hauck is going to UCLA after all and Mike Van Diest will be coming to Missoula. It comes from the Carroll side of things but I don't know any more than that. Anyone else hear anything?

We could only hope, but at this point I'm pretty sure Neuheisel has his staff pretty well put together....

Given Neuheisal's track record, maybe he wants Hauck's expertise in bridging the divide between football program and local law enforcement.....

Evidently that is not happening, or at least nobody should hope for it at this stage.

Seems like a lot of people are counting on UM hiring Van Diest as soon as Bobby is gone, I am not convinced of it.

At any rate, not good for coaching changes from this point on.

yeah I agree with you, I sure hope it's not happening and I don't think it will but if it did happen we could do a lot worse than Van Diest. He is well liked and well respected by a lot of people over in Helena that I like and respect.

Only reason I say that is the current trend to hire laterally or slightly under. NAIA to FCS is a big step, and seems like most hires are not very local. I don't have any inside info either direction, but seems like the fan base expects Mike to go there.

I like Mike, and have met with him before. Quality guy for sure, and Carroll will do everything to keep him.

True enough on all above except for the fact that Carroll as an NAIA is competing more at the D2 level with other NAIA's that are also competing at that level. Don't know if that would make much of a difference but I don't consider them at a D3AA type of level.

Really? Maybe you need to read the thread title again. I said in it, that it was an unsubstantiated rumor from the Carroll side of things, I didn't say it was fact. Maybe I'm taking you wrong but I don't think I am. If you want to make this some sort of neener, neener, I told you so thing then feel free, but I'm not married to the rumor and was only putting it on here to see if anyone else had heard the same thing. I could go dig out some old pics of Tim, Bobby, and me and my brother drinking a few beers to show you there location at that time as well if it helps establish a pattern for you.

The head coach at Jamestown College, Tom Dosch, was hired as Linebackers coach at Southern Illinois.
I know Dosch is no Van Diest, but Dosch had a good track record at JC, and as an assistant at UND for many years.

I agree that NAIA to FCS is too big of a jump, even for VD.

I was simply pointing out that they're still in Missoula with the team, and not in Los Angeles.. no one said anything about you being married to the rumor, or anything crazy like that. Rumors are rumors. And the pictures were from the Cat/Griz b-ball this weekend where they were presented with the Big Sky Conf. trophy.

I just got a text message from a friend that is dating one of Hauck's cousin's here in Missoula and it says that Tim Hauck is going to UCLA and will be leaving next week. it did not say anything about Bobby so I assume that means that his departure is not happening but I haven't gotten a call back from the friend or the cousin yet so don't know what is going on there.

Missoulian just posted an article online about Tim leaving for a similar position at UCLA. Bobby is the coach of the Griz as far as anyone can tell.

It looks like it will remain that way as I just got a phone call back and apparently Neuheisel wanted Bobby too, but Bobby didn't want to give up the head coaching position to go there to be the DC (I thought that position was filled pretty early on) from what I was told but I didn't know he was offered the DC until just about an hour ago.

Yeah that's the one that I question because if he was offered DC then I would have thought he would take that but I do know that Neuheisel has been in contact with both of them and Tim is going but Bobby is not. The source is fairly reliable on these matters unless he is arguing with me and then I've found that he has his head in ass when that happens. I have called him again to get a little clarification on the matter and if Tim is having a little drink or two tonight before heading to California then I will ask him how the whole situation unfolded and what Bobby was offered.

Well that could have been as the original source is a booster on the Carroll College side and they may have just heard some rumblings and ran with it. The second source of info. is on the U of M side and would have a little better handle on what is actually happening.

Bobby Hauk isnt retarted at all. I would rather be the head coach at a great division 1-aa school then the defensive coordinator at a crappy PAC-10 school. Bobby has been a really good coach for the Griz, and if he brought Carrol Colleges coach on board with him that would be even better. Make Carrol Colleges coach the OC, that would really spice things up.
