It looked like it was going to happen, then it started to look like it wouldn't, but now it's official: ASU and LSU will square off 8/30/08 in a "Battle of the Champions" game. Rumor has it that ESPN is going to televise it nationally, but I don't think any of that if official just yet. I'll be getting my tickets whenever I can and am really stoked about this match-up. Thoughts?

Funny thing is, if not for ASU's victory over Michigan last year, this game wouldn't be on ANYBODY'S radar outside of Boone.

btw, it's been reported in several different newspapers that this game will be televised nationally on ESPN. I don't know if that is ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN U, or "the ocho", but it looks to be a definite now that it will be out there somewhere. Everybody around here is pretty excited about it, and I can't wait to get tickets. It may be a long shot for us to pull the upset again, but anything can happen, and I think we'll keep it pretty close anyway. Our offense should score, and our D-Line should be pretty nasty next year, perhaps good enough to shut down their run game. Periloux (sp?) is a proven runner, but might not be the passer that many think he is. Our secondary will be pretty green next year, but if we can make some plays there, we'll be in it. it'll also be a homecoming for senior DE tim washington, who played for LSU his first two years before transferring here. i kinda hope we make him a captain for this one, as i'm pretty confident that man will be excited.

It just means the SEC will try to get us to move to 1-A and join.

The Ocho should carry the game.
