Could it be too little too late???

A Hofstra Alum and former football player has started a SAVE HOFSTRA FOOTBALL movement, using his company website as a base...

Brad Gerstman is trying to get last weeks surprise decision reversed...even including a poll on the site...
“I am deeply upset about this decision,“ Gerstman says. “As an alumnus, former football player and a member of this community, I will personally seek clarification and details on why this occurred. I hope that the University will reconsider this irresponsible decision that ultimately will impact the region in a very profound way, from Long Island high school football players to current Hofstra football players and fans, and many others.”
If you want to help save Hofstra football...check it out...

They don't have the fan base/interest to save this program.

Most likely you are correct...

Did not Villanova go through the same thing? I recall around 1980 VU dropped football to the dismay and anger of many Villanova alums and fans! A restoral effort was started, including a fund raising effort (I believe it was Bob Hope). The program was indeed restored and VU has one of the premier FCS programs in the nation today! Perhaps the same thing could be done at Hofstra! Also, even though there was about a 70 year gap, football was also restored by Old Dominion University.  :thumb: :thumb:

This has also happened elsewhere. Michigan Tech was going to drop their football program a ways back and private donors stepped up and paid to keep the team going, according to my buddy (a MTU grad and who told me about this), it is still 100% privately funded.

I would think if you want to save football you should have your ass in the seats, not waiting until it's too late. That would help save a program. :twocents:

A shame football won't be played in that great stadium.
