My brother and I watched the first half - he's not a big FCS football fan - but I convinced him to sit down and watch with me... well needless to say he was like: "Dude... this blows"
He said the same thing...
He's like: "Yeah, I understand why nobody comes to see these two shitty teams play..."
I was actually laughing after a while - he was actually hysterical pointing out the play calling on both offenses - he was in complete shock at the complete lack of creativity and low quality execution...
I was embarrassed...
my thoughts exactly, this was an awful "showcase" for FCS football. terrible atmosphere, terrible competition. I fell asleep, it was that bad.Cap'n Cat wrote:The whole production smacked of a high school game. I was embarrassed. Empty stands, a shitty band - did you hear their atonal assault on music? No wonder FBS people don't give us teh time of day. The Montana game might wipe away the memories of this abortion.
Terrible.
You should make one of those for your teams conference, just put X's over all the teams before the season starts. You could use it forever.CatMom wrote:
My biggest complaint with Villanova hosting was the stadium size. People who never watch FCS will see this game because it's on national TV, see the high school sized stadium and assume that FCS plays like high school.Cap'n Cat wrote:The whole production smacked of a high school game. I don't think so. While I think Montana and ASU have a good chance to beat Villanova, I don't think either will shut down Villanova's offense like W&M did.griz37 wrote:Whoever wins tomorrows game will destroy Villanova. Yet somehow people tend to give credibility to MAC and Sunbelt teams? I'm not saying your brother does, but a lot of people do.Chizzang wrote:Hysterical...

Agree. It was a good game. I do though think the better team lost. I know, I know....danefan wrote:Yet somehow people tend to give credibility to MAC and Sunbelt teams? I'm not saying your brother does, but a lot of people do.Chizzang wrote:Hysterical...

What makes them "less highschool"? A bigger emptier stadium? 22 more scholarships for kids not playing?
The game was a matchup of two really good defensive teams. The offensive playcalling left a lot to ask for, but its not everyday teams from the Northeast play in 15-20 degree weather. The ball (synthetic GST leather balls which they were using) gets very slippery and the field was frozen solid from the retained water of the storm that rolled through two days ago. The OCoordinator's got conservative and the defenses for the most part tightened up.
Sorry guys, I'd take that game last night over any crappy MAC or Sunbelt game any day of the week.

It's funny to see all the SLC hate.BlueHen86 wrote:You should make one of those for your teams conference, just put X's over all the teams before the season starts. You could use it forever.CatMom wrote:
A whole 4171 were interested enough to go, up from 2661 the week before. There will be 6 times that today.danefan wrote:Yet somehow people tend to give credibility to MAC and Sunbelt teams? I'm not saying your brother does, but a lot of people do.Chizzang wrote:Hysterical...
