What is your favorite offense and why? It may or may not be the style of offense your team runs, and it may be an offense not many teams run.

I suppose that since I'm a Delaware fan I'm supposed to say:

I agree hen, i really enjoy both the Wing-T (especially Tubby Raymonds methods of running it) and any type of triple option/veer offense (Carson Newman: Splitback Veer and Army, Navy, Georgia Tech, Cal Poly: Flexbone)

Both offenses are severely underated especially in this pass happy, spread offense age of football and i firmly believe that they both can compete at any level of competition. Wondering Hen what made you guys leave the Wing-T? From what i can remember correctly you guys were rather succsesful with it and the only division 1 collage team to ever have run it.

Both HS's I've coached at ran Wing-T, and I found out VERY quickly that I can't stand it. I came up running I before being indoctrinated into the West Coast at UOP and Sac. I like a nice balanced attack, and love to include little tidbits from the dark ages of football (drop kick, quick kick, Swinging Gate, etc.) just to screw with defenses. But that gets me into trouble with the young Davis-ites of the world. (And, no, I'm not talking about the Manure Pile there.)

When I coached high school powderpuff senior year, my fellow coaches and I had to invent the "Only Option" offense (my favorite). See, we ran into a snag because girls suck at football and can't remember anything, so we just had them memorize one play and ran it every single down. We won. Of course, if anyone plans to use this amazing offense, there a variety of plays to choose from, so please select the one your players are most comfortable with. Just remember, NEVER stray away from that one play the entire game or the whole thing is ruined and you will lose. The "Only Option" utilizes psychological warfare, for the other team will always be wondering if you'll change the play, so they're never fully ready for the same play every single time. It's simple and effective...the MOST perfect offense. Trust me, once coaches around the FBS and FCS catch on to this, it's gonna take off. Florida will become famous for the "Quarterback Draw Only Option," Nevada for the "Pistol Only Option," Boston College for the "Hail Mary Only Option," and Towson for the "Kneel Down Only Option." Just remember who told you about it first .

Girls have played college football and there's at least one female college football coach floating around out there. There is more than one women's professional football league, too. I've watched the Independent Women's Football League for years, and I know for a FACT that the Sacramento Sirens and the Seattle Majestics are REALLY good. Sure, there are some teams that shouldn't be playing, but you find that everywhere.

Where did I ever say that ALL female athletes would take down ALL male athletes? So I think that Danica Patrick is the best auto racer around. Big deal. That's an INDIVIDUAL situation. It's INDIVIDUAL females that could be successful against men. There ain't no way I'm going to say that ALL girls have that ability.

Sure, I think that INDIVIDUAL women could be successful in the major male sports AT CERTAIN POSITIONS. I'm not going to put a female on an NFL line. But I do believe that a girl could be a decent kicker/punter if she has soccer experience, WR if she played basketball (to screen the DB from the ball), or QB if she has a decent arm (though a QB can get around having no arm). I'd put a Ticha Penicheiro in the NBA as a guard or a Lisa Leslie as a SF, though I wouldn't put a girl head-up on a PF or C. Heck, there's already been at least one girl I know of who tried out for the NFL and one who played regular season games in the NHL. So, INDIVIDUALLY it IS possible, though as a blanket statement, even I wouldn't go that far.

My bad, didn't mean to offend you SH. I kinda meant it as a joke and that the girls at my school sucked at football. I mean, girls make fun of guys too so we gotta give 'em their due haha! I have nothin' against women playing predominantly male sports...in fact, the Lady Monarchs are my favorite team at ODU. And I agree that I'd give Ticha Penicheiro a shot in the NBA, but I doubt she'd do well. The ball is way bigger and heavier in the NBA than the WNBA and I think that alone would really mess with her play, especially at the guard position. The only lady that I can think of that would have made it with the men in her heyday is Lady Magic, but that's because if you know anything about Nancy, she grew up playin' ball with men, and actually competing well against them. And if you've been reading the news lately, Nancy also became the first woman ever to become a head coach in the NBA's D-League. That's HUGE and really sets a precendent for women in high NBA positions. Many of the players she's about to coach WILL play in the NBA!

If you run the Zone as it should be run, you really can't stop it. Our running back Tony Vinson ran for over 2000 yards my senior year because of it.

I agree-- when the zone is taught and run properly it is devestating. Bo Heffner taught us the zone at Lafayette and when we got the hang of it we had two back rack up lots of yards and TD's. We still run the zone, but not as much.

I liked zone blocking, but I hated blocking the power. We once ran a 26 power about 9 times in a row (with me pulling) I though my head was going to explode after hitting the LB so many times.
