Looking to be one of the top 10 FCS stadiums in the country.

I love the dorms connected to the stadium. .

So do the football players live in those dorms? if not, can you see the games from the dorm rooms, because if so, that would be awesome. You wouldn't even have to get out of bed on gameday.

No clue who they plan on putting there, but I do know the dorms were added to the design to get additional public funding.

The D3 school I played at had dorms that face the field. There was a ton of students that watched from the dorms and hung signs out the windows and stuff. It was pretty sweet.

The dorms are going to be split into 3 sections: 1. honor studes, 2. marching band members, and 3. sororities.

So 2 groups that probably don't know what football is, and the Marching Band, who will be at the games anyways. I guess they won't be losing out on any ticket sales, if you can see the game from the windows of these dorms.

LSU has done this...and it's an option that ASU's Chancellor has put forth for Kidd Brewer. Mainly to get additional state funding. It is in an interesting option. I'm sure the demand to get into those dorms would be high. Especially at ASU as the stadium parking lot is surrounded by dorms, our stadium is close to everything.

The dorms will indeed be split into 3 sections. Sororities, Honor Students, and Marching Southerners. There is also talk of a 4th section, but I have no idea who it would be designated for. To answer other questions. The dorms will be facing the opposite side of the stadium. So the only view I'm afraid is of the parking lot. The only sections that have a clear sight of the field are on the extreme ends of the structures. And as far as I know, the remaining section of the dorm cannot be designated for "Athletes" because of NCAA Regulations.

I think the rule is that you can't have an entire dorm devoted to athletes, so since there will be other occupants you could put some athletes in it. There are dorms that will technically face towards the stadium, but they wont be able to see the field because if you look out of the windows, you will see the underside of the new bleachers. I guess they can put the people who like to sleep late and/or vampires in those rooms because the sunlight ain't gonna be getting in

I agree that the dorm/stadium combo is a brilliant idea. It helped removed most of the groundbreaking/infrastructure type costs from the athletic portion of the construction cost. However, none of the money is coming from state appropriations or tuition, but rather the University issued bonds which are supposed to be paid off from dorm "rent", stadium club memberships, and suite sales. I'm hoping we are able to come up with some other type of combo arrangement for construction of a new basketball arena that we really need if we are gonna get into an FBS conference.

400 beds isn't a whole lot, once you divide them among honor students, sororities and a frickin huge marching band.

I wonder if they'd have enough room left over for the football team, even though putting the team there makes the most sense of all.

Sweet - I don't have to follow JSU anymore.

Its a team that I couldn't care less about but definitely one that is important to the FCS community so I kept posting this stuff.

Hopefully one of the JSU posters will pick up my slack.

Agreed but they are also frickin good. I've seen them several times. they are just as good if not better than some of the HBCU's i've seen.
