Gardner-Webb Recruiting - 2010

Well, before we were so rudely interrupted by the shutdown of AGS, we were starting to strike up a pretty good conversation about GW's recent recruiting success. We started our first weekend of official visits with 6 or so commits and I understand that is now up to 12!

Here are the known commits:

Here’s an interesting twist; Olympic High School’s three senior football captains have all committed to Gardner-Webb.

QB Lucas Beatty
LB Sean Hubbard
OG Tyler Hough-Jenkins

Also committed:

OL Jacob McQueen [South Pointe HS]

I need help on the other commits, but it looks like GW is solidly adding on to their last couple of recruiting classes.

Go Runnin' Bulldogs!

We picked up 12 commits last weekend according to The General. Not bad out of 20 visiting. A couple of names that I remember are :

Keion Williams - DB - Providence Day - Charlotte, N.C.
Jules - WR - Tampa, Fla.

They are hosting 5-6 kids this weekend. I'll be sure and post them as I get them. There was a kids from N. Augusta also but I can't remember his name.

Big Sexy,

The Augusta Chronicle is reporting today that Cam Alston is committed to PC. I hope they're wrong - it wouldn't be the first time.

Why would anybody want to be a Blue Hose??? Just kidding, PC is a great school and I think the football team will start to improve this coming season. If the kid did change his mind, I wish him well, except when they play the Runnin' Bulldogs of course!!

Nice size and frame. Played on Ga. AAA State Runnerup. Lost to Peach County 13-12. Three nice OL pick-ups with McConnell, McQueen and Hough-Jenkins. Gotta think they are looking at 1 to 2 more OL. Gotta build some depth as the RunninDawgs go into Spring Ball with only 8 OL.

Saw an Augusta Chronicle article that stated that previous GWU commit Cam Alston has changed his pledge yet again from Presbyterian to Howard. That's 3 different schools in short order. If I were Howard's Coaching Staff, I wouldn't be so certain that he'll stick with them. I wish all the kids well as it's a big decision but because it's a big decision think about it before jumping on the verbal commit wagon. I guess commitment for some is not what it is for others. Can you imagine the circus if the NCAA didn't have the NLI?

Heard tonight that as of right now we have 17 commits. 3 OL. Don't have all the specifics, guess we'll hear them all next week. On a sad note, my mother-in-law passed away this past Monday. It was totally unexpected. Please keep our family in you prayers.

Here's a little info on Richard Jules: The 6-foot, 168-pound Jules had 19 catches for 329 yards and four TDs as a senior. His team advanced to the 4A state semi-finals.

Hearing we picked up 3 more commits this weekend - a DL, TE, and 1 more. Anybody know any of the particulars? Sounds like our coaches were able to fill up this class with the talent they were searching for. Signing day should be a day for smiles all around.

A big early welcome and congratulations to all of the recruits and their families who are set to sign their LOI's tomorrow with Gardner-Webb and join the Runnin Bulldogs. Looking forward to seeing the complete list and reading up on the new recruits. Spring Ball is around the corner and if the weather will cooperate, there will be several of us who will do a spring game tailgate. Look forward to meeting all the new folks. I know all the families and friends are proud of their guys. I know how you feel, one year ago tomorrow I was feeling the same way about my son and his decision and commitment to the Runnin Bulldogs.

Hey EagleDog,
Get your facts straight before you start posting stuff you know nothing about. Cam NEVER committed to Gardner Webb. Not that he owes you or anyone else an explanation but yes he did change his committment from PC to Howard. Why is that so surprising to you? He is not the first prospect to change his mind and I'm 100% certain he won't be the last. Howard is getting a wonderful young man and a terrific athletic. Go Bisons!!!!
