Wallace Reports Coulson No Longer at Sports Network
Ralph Wallace of College Sporting News is reporting that David Coulson has left the Sports Network.
Coulson had been with Sports Network since the summer of 2007 covering the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). Coulson was probably the best writer the SNW has had as far as FCS goes and will surely be missed.

I think there are lots of people who will dispute that "best writer" comment...

I never had a problem with him personally, but I could see the bias in his writing. Mr.C should join us here at CS.com.

Wow, that's big news. I hope that doesn't mean SN's FCS coverage is in jeopardy.

Ralph makes it seem that Sports Network will make a hire for the position again, though says he hopes it does not come in July.Fact wrote:Wow, that's big news. I hope that doesn't mean SN's FCS coverage is in jeopardy.

I always appreciated his coverage, but the bias got to be a little much for me. You could not deny his passion for FCS, though.

Re: Wallace Reports Coulson No Longer at Sports Network
I am a little surprised of the timing. When he wrote that article on the all-star games I figured he was safe. Coulson had told me a couple weeks ago that there was a chance he would lose his job. There were some personality conflicts with he and some of the people there not getting along. I really hate that they let him go. I didn't want to say anything on here until it became official. I have not heard from him yet so if he sheds anymore light other than they decided to let him go, and he does not mind me telling, I will definitely post it.

Anybody know what Tony Moss is doing these days?

I should add that I hever had a problem with him personally, but I really couldn't stand his complete bias and lovefest for Appy State (and subsequently how he never picked JMU to win a damn game! )mcveyrl wrote:+1andy7171 wrote:I never had a problem with him personally, but I could see the bias in his writing. He picked us to beat Montana last year, I believe.
... and then picked Montana to beat Richmond
The guy is a wizard with his FCS picks.

Best FCS writer they've ever had? Come on, Tony Moss was fantastic and never had the biases Coulson had. Coverage went downhill ever since Moss left.

Re: Wallace Reports Coulson No Longer at Sports Network
Coulson single-handedly caused many FCS fans to stop coming to the site, and certainly to stop reading his articles. His coverage was spotty, biased and often filled with errors. Of course, the famous Tony Moss was much better, but even young Matt Dougherty was considerably better.

Tony Moss covers the NFL now for The Sports Network, and yes, he by far provided the best FCS coverage I've seen from that outlet.

Moss was infinitely better, Dougherty dropped off a bit from Moss' level, but Coulson was terrible. I stopped reading the articles for the most part.
