What site is that?catamount man wrote:Per one website, WCU is #4 as recruiting classes go in FCS. Of course, this is all on paper. BUT, coupled with last year's 3rd best in FCS class, I am just a WEE BIT GIDDY about our future. I pray it takes place on the field.

I worked for Rivals for about 3 years, I honestly woulnd't put too much stock in any of their rankings outside of the top 100 or 150 players in the country. Once you get outside of that Rivals, Scout, ESPN, etc... don't really care and make things up. Most of ranking stars are based on recruiting offers and things like that. I covered and interviewed a kid that went from a 2 star one week, during the off season with no offers. During the next week and a half he picked up offers from Texas, TAMU, OU, OkSU and Bama and he jumped up to a 5 start top 50 prospect.catamount man wrote:Per Rivals, here are the FCS top 4 classes:
1) Appalachian State
2) Richmond
3) Northwestern State
4) Western Carolina
This makes 2 years in a row that App, NWST and my Cats have finished in the top 5 of the FCS in recruiting.
Considering how low we've been, I will take ANY good pub. But yeah, it doesn't mean squat if in 4 years, you're going 1-10.clenz wrote:I worked for Rivals for about 3 years, I honestly woulnd't put too much stock in any of their rankings outside of the top 100 or 150 players in the country. How does he go from a two star, not on the radar not rated with a number recruit to a top 50 can't miss prospect in 9 days without playing a game, going to a practice or doing a work out?
Yeah, JMU somehow got left off that list. Yet rivals shows them with 11 commitments (of the 19 JMU signed), 18 total stars, an avg of 1.64 stars per commit, higher than any of the I-AA teams rankedclenz wrote:FWIW I checked the top classes on Rivals and there are some FCS teams there
120 Appalachian State
122 South Carolina St.
123 Richmond
Northwestern St.
125 Western Carolina
126 North Dakota State
127 Sacramento St.
Villanova
129 Chattanooga
McNeese St.
131 Massachusetts
132 Illinois St.
UC Davis
South Dakota
Northern Colorado
North Dakota
137 North Carolina Central
South Dakota State
Presbyterian
Lafayette
Rhode Island
Fordham
What's crazy about this is that some of these schools only show one commit on the rivals site...so I wouldn't take this too seriously.
Like I said, I worked for Rivals...them and Scout don't give a damn outside of their top 100 recruits that they can pimp out on TVBDKJMU wrote:Yeah, JMU somehow got left off that list. but someone JMU isn't. Another example, UR and JMU both have 6 rivals 2 star commits. UR has one 3 star. JMU has 2. Yet UR is the #3 I-AA and JMU isn't listed among the 22 I-AA listed, including a bunch of schools that show only a few commits, only one 2 star commit. Yeah, right.
Yeah, I find it hard to believe that Montana in nowhere to be found on that list. Of course we tend to find a good amount of Montana kids that fly under ALL radar.clenz wrote:Like I said, I worked for Rivals...them and Scout don't give a damn outside of their top 100 recruits that they can pimp out on TV
Montana's incoming class of 19 only includes THREE Montana kids. Oh, and 10 2-star recruits.SeattleGriz wrote:Yeah, I find it hard to believe that Montana in nowhere to be found on that list. While we only had 3 Montana kids this year, I was thinking more along the lines of walk ons that seem to come out of nowhere to be awesome players.AZGrizFan wrote:Montana's incoming class of 19 only includes THREE Montana kids. Oh, and 10 2-star recruits.SeattleGriz wrote:

Weren't both Colt Anderson and Marc Mariani walk ons?
You can't just go by Rivals. Scout has to come into play also. We had eight 2 stars there. Rivals sucks at covering the Northwest.clenz wrote:FWIW I checked the top classes on Rivals and there are some FCS teams there

Get your AD to contact our AD and get a game in 4 years and we'll see who does the destroying. Montana 52 Liberty 14. My prediction.kuntryboimike wrote:just to add on to the dont use rivals...liberty has a 4 star, like 4 3 stars, 3 or 4 2 stars and of course a few 1 stars then like 8 not rated and a couple of them are definate 2-3 star material. liberty destroyed recruiting this yr! go flames!
Which is why I never put any stock into FCS class rankings...ronbo wrote: Every year it's the same frickin poop. Montana doesn't ever have a good recruiting class with Rivals and then we go 14-1 or 13-1. Hmmm..... makes you wonder doesn't it?
