I can't speak very well as to the problem, but opening the season with Arizona State and Oklahoma sure doesn't help a team to start on the right foot.

They're too busy being scared shitless of their turf to focus on silly things like "winning"

Very true...it scares the crap out of me every time the Griz play there. Glad we have 'em at home this year

The problem is that we have had no consistency. I was looking at the history of the program and we seem to get a new coach every 3-4 years. This has been going on for the last 30 years. YOU cannot build a winning program with changes like this always happening. It disrupts recruiting and makes it hard to establish a system. I have seen the sparks in the last 3 years under Coach Z and sooner or latter it will click and ISU will be back in the hunt.

No problem. They beat us last year. :D

The turf problem will be solved soon. And I could give excuse after excuse as to why were bad, but seriously we just need to get better. I hate excuses. The Bengals may or may not be better this year either, too soon to tell, but don't sleep on 'em. Ask Montana. I know they overlooked us last year - I can't blame em, we were winless - but they damn near lost.

That's good...because I know, at least during the Griz game, there were quite a few injuries...to both teams.

Since 1995, ISU has had four head coaches. Montana has had five. Sure that's the problem?

I agree with you that Zamberlin is the right guy and the Bengals will make a move and one day join the group fighting for second place in the BSC.

You need to go look again. Coach Z is the 6th head coach scenes 1981 when ISU won the title some of those coaches staid for 2 years others for 5. Every coach that ISU has hired has come from outside the football program. Where did your new coach come from? As I recall he was the receivers coach sounds like some consistency to me. I can’t wait for the 9th of October.

Let me rephrase they were employed for 2 to 5 years some left because they were offered a better coaching gig. The rest were fired because they could not win. The saddest thing is there were coaches fired because they would pull off a winning season and would win 3 the next year and they would be gone. Then you have the old athletic director and the missing $800,000. ISU fans need to be patient and let Coach Z build a program.

How about scenes? I'm beginning to see. Doesn't read much better than he writes, either. ISU coaches since 1995 have been McNeely ('92-'96), Walsh ('97-'98), Lewis ('99-'06) and Zamberlin ('07-). I count four. Pflugrad is Montana's fifth in the same period. Yes, he was a receiver's coach - at Oregon. He was at Montana from '86-'94. He will do just fine, as the others have done.

 Didn't catch that one. My eyes tend to skip around to the key words when the sentence structure is abnormally bad, so as to not get caught up in the intellectual crevasses. :ugeek:

I AM SORRY THAT I WRITE VERY FAST AND AT A HIGHER LEVEL THAN YOUR BRAIN CAN PROCESS I ALSO DON’T USALLY PROOF READ because I have a life and am usually doing three or four things at once and trust the auto correct. I am sorry us SAPPERS (that refers to an Army Engineer and I am an officer just so its clear and I don’t confuse you) must not be that bright. Go look in the record books from 1982 the year after ISU won the D1AA National championship to the year 2010, six coaches have been at ISU none longer than 5 years and none shorter than 2. None of the coaches had any major association with ISU before they assumed the head coaching position. That has made it hard to get any rhythm or consistency in the game of football. IS that simple enough for you to understand or do I need to have someone draw you a picture. :thumb:

As a retired, senior NCO, the above bolded explains quite a bit.

I salute & thank you, Sir, for the clarification!

Welcome to the board, Sapper. You'll have to grow a thicker skin and a sense of humor to survive here. ;)

But what the hell good is that officer's college education if not for reading and writing?

I apologies for my pissed off attitude I just watched ISU get torn apart by UNC in basketball and it was not a good night. All of you crusty NCO’s know us officers have a problem reading and writing if my spell check is not working I am screwed. I was once a NCO so I have a very thick skin and can take anything you dish.

Welcome, sir Sapper. I, for one, do not have a problem with Idaho State. I believe we had a worse record against the Bengals (1-2) during the Glanville years than we did against EWU (2-1). That should give BF and Scream something to chew on. I do think you may need to show that thick skin from time to time. People around here are nice to a point, but they will needle you if they think they can get a rise out of you. Most times last year I just smiled and said "I know, we're bad", knowing someday we will turn the corner and be relevant again.

WRONG.

Jim Koetter - 5 seasons, '83-'87; record of 23-30-1
Garth Hall - 4 seasons, '88-'91; record of 9-31-1
Brian McNeeley - 4 seasons, '92-'96; record of 20-35
Tom Walsh - 2 seasons, '97-'98; record of 6-16
Larry Lewis - 8 seasons, '99-'06; record of 40-49, including BSC Co-Champs in 2002
John Zamberlin - 3 seasons, '07-'09, record of 5-29

You've had two coaches in 11 years...and NONE of the coaches since '82 come anywhere NEAR the level of futility that Zamberlin's teams have the past two years. I'm not sure ISU realized how good they had it in Larry Lewis.
