how serious is your rivalry?

I know we all have rivals that we hate/dislike intensely/just don't care about how seriously do you take it.

My rivalry with Grambling and Jackson State are so strong that people who are fans of either team aren't allowed in my home with their colors on. (that includes family) I refuse to drive near or thru either area with out a good reason (going to a game). I would disown my kid if they went to either school (I'd let it slide if they had a scholarship, no way my money's going there)I just plain hate em and wish they'd disappear off the face of the earth. yes i'm a hater.

Just substitute Montana for Bama, and MSU for Tennessee

LU doesn't have a real rival, persay, but I know that, personally, I have an immense dislike for most of the Big South schools...

The worst would have to be Radford. But that's not football...

I respect VMI. I respect CSU (in football, after the progress they've made of late...).

Gardner-Webb is pretty much irrelevant by the time we play them each year. Stony Brook is good competition, and their fans are good, so it's more civil than a rivalry.

No one at LU likes Coastal, but they're not an intense rivalry for me...

And I dislike Presby with the intensity of a million hot burning suns. Parents, don't let your daughters grow up to be Hose.

well, I hate Liberty and Charleston Southern. I rather lose to CSU than LU. Liberty is the one game I wanna see us win.

Ya know, if you don't get your hopes up, you can't be let down.

I'd rather lose to the local jr high than lose to either one of them. So you can imagine how I felt this year seeing the Jags take losses to both. :coffee:

Conversely, keeping y'all out of the playoffs was one of the best feelings in the world. 8-)

On another note, we've yet to establish legitimate rivalries at this level. The rivalry with Newberry was great when we were D-II. We actually have a longer history against Wofford than we had with Newberry, but that kinda got put on hold when Wofford moved up and we didn't. Personally, I respect Wofford for what it is; a small school with a great reputation. I was actually torn between going to Wofford or PC when I was in high school. But I've heard what some of their fans think about us because one of my fraternity brothers dated a Wofford student for a while. So I dislike them very much, and look forward to beating them when they come to Clinton in 2011. With regard to Liberty, I have an abiding dislike of Jerry Falwell's brand of Christianity, but that's another matter. The fact that Liberty is associated with him drives my antagonism. Otherwise, that school is one heck of a fundraising machine and has done tremendous things athletically.

Over the past five or six years Richmond's biggest rival (I believe) has been JMU. An oddity of this series is over the past four or five meeting the VISITING team has been the winner! :o Among older UR grads the biggest rivalry is William & Mary. In fact, the UR/  W&M series is one of the oldest in the south!

Richmond's longest rival is William and Mary, although there's not much hatred there - more of a mutual respect thing. I think there was more venom with the older generations.

More current and serious would probably be us and JMU.

I will root for every team that the friz play.

My least favorite NBA Team is the Memphis grizzlies.

I sold my company truck because it was maroon.

My door mat into my house is a friz football helmet w/ wipe feet here below it

My son was potty trained by peeing on a friz mini helmet he got from my uncle.

P.S. I do respect where there program is at. I hope the Cats can get there very soon. ( I hate the fact that I think that)

Well we have a huge rivalry with University of South Dakota, and there is about as much hate there as in any bigtime rivalry I've seen. Being a student I've only witnessed one game between us ever but I have heard a lot of things, from dead coyotes and jackrabbits being thrown on the court to brawls every game.

Personally I hate NDSU as much as USD due to most of their fans being d-baggy (sorry fargo and others who aren't) and so damn arrogant it just makes me want to puke. How they look down on us is infuriating to me, so I generally hope they lose every game. Enough of the goody goody rivalry with them.
