Just for my own curiousity. Where you in college and/or even following FCS football before the game was held in Chatty?

The championship game was played in Wichita Falls, Tx when I started following I-AA/FCS.
EKU beat Delaware 17-14 in 1982.

Yeah, I got a Griz season ticket with my parents for the first time in 1993, when I was 5 years old. I remain convinced that I'm the reason behind the streak of consecutive post season appearances.

"Pee in my butt" for me.
I followed from a distance since the late 80's, but had no idea where the championship game was played

Yeah, I've been following since back in the early 80's. I've even been to the NC when it wasn't in Chatty.

I think I started following i-aa/fcs in the early 90's when I discovered street and smith's football previews. So that would be a yes.

i have checked in on UNH scores since I was like 9 years old. I didn't know much about FCS until I accidentally found AGS in 2005.

Played in the '88 first round..we ran into a buzzsaw tank runningback named Elroy Harris @ Eastern Kentucky. Arguably the toughest running back I've ever had to tackle. He ran harder as the game progressed.

Been following the Big Sky since 1976. Back then, the dominate Montana college football program was in Bozeman, not Missoula (although the Griz team was no slouch back then). I can remember back when Nevada joined the Big Sky (they were Nevada-Reno then) and when Idaho and Boise State also mixed it up in the conference. I can remember when Idaho State had a strong football program. I can remember when the conference expanded into the urban areas (Portland was a good addition as was Sacramento/Northern California). I can look back on the failed experiment with Northridge/Los Angeles with regret.
God I'm old.

Furman played two NC games out west. One in Tacoma, the other in Idaho. Didn't make either one. Plane tickets were simply to expensive on short notice. 1988 the only Furman game I missed all year was the NC game.

Graduated from App State in 1977 and remember when 1-AA began. Attended 3 NC games at Chatty, 2 of which ASU played in and won. If ASU makes the Championship game I will be in Frisco. Living in Atlanta I attend about 75% of ASU's away games, but only make it up to the Rock about once a year. I enjoy the road trips for big games like UMich, LSU, ECU, JMU, Richmond and UFla. Frisco is no different and I would expect a minimum of 6-8K ASU fans to make that trip if our Mountaineers do. A weekend in Dallas can't be all bad!

Think I first became aware of the NC in '87 when App was in semi's (& I was in HS). Had been following App since '84 when Jon Settle arrived & brother was a freshman. I remember my brother telling me how ramped up Conrad stadium was for the game & students were throwing potatos on the field (guess for the Boise reference...was that where the championship game was?)...but alas, App fell to Marshall (after beating them earlier in the year) which I believe began Marshall's Reign of Terror on I-AA.....
