2010 BRYANT FOOTBALL SCHEDULE

Post by aceinthehole »

SMITHFIELD, R.I - The Bryant University football team will play a school record seven home games at Bulldog Stadium this fall as the 2010 Bryant Football Schedule has been officially announced.

Head coach Marty Fine will enter his seventh season at Bryant when he leads the Bulldogs into the season opener on Saturday, September 4 at home against Fordham. Kickoff will be at 3 p.m. as the game will coincide with campus move-in weekend.

Bryant has posted a 23-8 record during the six seasons at home under Fine including a 3-2 mark in 2009. Following the Fordham game, Bryant will host former Northeast-10 Conference rivals Saint Anselm (Sept. 11) and Merrimack (Sept. 18) before hitting the road for a pair of Northeast Conference games.

Bryant, which will begin its third year competing at the Football Championship Subdivision (formerly I-AA) in 2010, will also be competing as a member of the Northeast Conference for the second year in a row.

not really surprised. It looks like they took two easier DII teams too. I know alumni and fans were sparse at the end of the year last year. I think they want the fans to keep showing up. It probably also has to do with having a young team next year too.

1 would have been an away game at Hofstra, so I guess its good for Bryant to get the 7th home game.

I hate to see any DII's on NEC schedules, let alone 2.

My policy is to never begrudge a FCS team, regardless of their conference, for scheduling one D2 opponent per season. Every team needs home games and homecoming patsys to make their school feel good. But playing more than one should always be frowned upon. I understand Bryant's situation this year with Hofstra folding, but I'd be disappointed if any other NEC team played two sub-DI games.
