Discuss...

Pros:
- autobid to FCS playoffs
- reduced travel costs
- central location of three conference members (FAMU, BCU, SSU)

Cons:
- cost of scholarships
- leaving the A-Sun for the MEAC in all sports
- perception of "lesser competition"
- joining an "HBCU conference"

I think that it could be something for them to seriously consider.

I say if none of the ASUN schools add football Hampton has a shot at being in the Big South. With Charlotte and maybe Georgia St. looking at FBS all sport conf. the dominoes could cause the Big South to lose a football member or 2. They could lose Stony Brook soon anyway.

Question - would scholarship costs outweigh travel savings? I'd have to think schollies would cost more.

Adding scholarships far outweights any travel costs JU could possibly save.

Just take a look at the budgets of JU vs. the FL MEAC schools:
JU - $1,074,629
B-CU - $3,071,002
FAMU - $2,350,000

While tuition at JU is relatively cheap $13,000, you are looking at adding at least $1.5 million a year to that budget after Title IX. Their travel expenses in the PFL are probably no more than $150,000 a year.

The Great West is currently in the same situation except with San Diego as we have made it clear several times that we really would enjoy having the Toreros in our conference and im pretty sure the scholarship costs would easily outweigh the travel costs. There is also some talks now going on that San Diego could still be a non scholarship program and still join but we will see on that and ill keep yall posted.

Anyways about the Big South have any of you VMI fans seen what your new offense is going to look like? I still say moving away from the triple option is a huge mistake but we will see how it works out :thumb:
