Artificial turf time at Mumford Stadium?

Post by tampajag »

Stump Mitchell had never seen A.W. Mumford Stadium when he agreed to take over as Southern football coach.

When he got there, he quickly learned why some mockingly call it “Mudford.”

Good to hear somebody is taking some pride in the stadium. That grass looks like crap, it is crap. "In 2003, Southern spent $510,000 to install a state-of-the-art sand-and-fiber base and cover it with Bermuda Tifway 419 grass." are you kidding me? Stupidest sht Ive heard in a looooong time. first southern paid half a mill for crap, then they install the endzone facility behind the track, (which really wasnt that bad bc its a fcs and ANY upgrade is usally a good one + i HATE having nothing in the endzones.. reeks of high school, but the thing is they installed seats & boxes in the facility)which, in my opinion could have been done in a better fashion &/or location, now they wanna say they dont have the cash for turf? thats the main thing they should have got in the first place. If they install that turf w/o lowering the field you guys are stuck with that bad decision untille they can cough up more cash for more turf & the cost to lower the field and add more seats=never. Sheeeesh! :coffee:

:bad: Lowering the field is probably not an option Southern is located on a bluff over looking the Mississippi river. If the field were lowered when the river would rise it would fill the stadium with water.
